Morning Meditation

Let me start today's blog with the second part first.   Yesterday's sunrise was spectacular.  Such a fiery sky... such brilliant colors.

 It was extraordinary, breathtaking!

And like every sunrise, it changes just a little with each passing moment - each iteration worthy of awe.

The promise of a great day...

Especially since after the way my day had started, there was no where to go but up!  Needing a pair of gloves that I had dried the night before, I bent over the laundry basket and reached to the back of the dryer... only to lose my footing (socks on tile floor) and dive, headlong right into the laundry basket - sending the dogs' water bowls flying.

Don't worry... no one was harmed in the filming of this accident!  We started our day out with a hearty laugh and then walked out into a glorious sunrise!  A sunrise that had been preceded by a "moon" rise!

Just a little later in the morning, the clouds were still quite interesting and in a formation I don't remember seeing before.  Scarlet and Donnie were happily grazing...

in the pasture adjacent to Red, Ollie, and Moonie (Ollie and Moonie seen in the opposite corner from Red).   This will give you some idea of the size of these four pastures.  Moonie and Ollie are tiny in the distance!

Meanwhile, in the chicken yard, Goose (our rooster) was busily trying to get his hens' attention - crowing his morning song...

and dancing his mating dance.

The hens, however, had snacking on their minds and paid him no heed.

Goose soon realized, if you can't beat 'em, join em!

These grey girls always forgo snack time, and instead, head for the furthest reaches of the grassy area - far from the pursuits of our lovelorn rooster.

Have a lovely weekend... and we'll chat again on Monday!

That sky is an amazing vision. Speaking of vision, I want to thank you for using such a clear, LARGE font on your blog. It makes it so much easier to read for these aging eyes.
Glad you are okay.

Enjoy this gift of a day!

Knowing nothing about having chickens, is a rooster necessary or would the girls prefer to do without his attention? Lisa G in TN

The "unusual cloud formation" is what my folkd called a "buttermilk sky". Thanks for the post, as usual, and the giggle of you in front of your dryer.....glad you weren't hurt. Blessings be.

LOL ... did Jack come running with his phone to capture you sprawled in the laundry 🧺 basket?
Oh, it was a beautiful morning at your place! We got a bit of snow overnight here in S. CO!
Goose is a beautiful rooster!
It's Friday ... I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
Well, i am glad you weren't hurt with your morning calisthenics! We keep our litter boxes behind a little half gate in a back space and one day while leaning over the gate to retrieve some goodies the cat left behind, the gate left loose and I went both hands in the litter box and landed on the floor myself! I think I would rather fall into the clothes basket than the litter boxes! Ha ha ha! The sunrise photos were lovely. I am not an early morning person myself and there is a big part of me that misses seeing sunrises for sure. Have a wonderful weekend. Looking forward to Mondays's blog. Deb
