Be The Duck!

 Animal lesson of the day:

Some days are better spent indoors.

Yesterday was what some might call vile.  Though, I hate to describe any day in this manner.  After all, not knowing what day will be my last... I would hate to end life on a vile day.  It was, however, quite soggy - windy and rainy - and morning chores were done in the pouring-down rain.  They way I see it - if my animals have to deal with it, then, so should I.  And so, dressed in quasi rain gear, we headed out into the dark of morning, with our head lamps illuminating the raindrops in front of our faces.

I must admit - when the chores were finished, I set my sights on indoor activities until the next time I needed to feed animals.

We are having our annual gingerbread house decorating party this coming Saturday, so I baked gingerbread

and made a few child-sized aprons for the event.

We will spend the afternoon decorating gingerbread houses with royal icing and candy.  Then, afterwards, have a taco dinner together.  Easy peasy... and a whole lot of fun!

While I worked in the kitchen, Jack worked in the barn workshop.  He's been making these lovely walnut cutting boards.

Yesterday was definitely a perfect day for ducks - and I believe that they are the only critters who stayed out in the rain all day long!  My mantra when out working in the rain: "Be the duck." Enjoy every day no matter what the conditions !

Happy December Farm Friends!

Be the duck!

A great outlook! We should all have that each day. Love making gingerbread houses with littles here. So much fun and it makes the kitchen smell so good. Do you have cookie cutter type pieces to cut them out? Adorable aprons.
What a beautiful cutting board. Those would make lovely gifts!
I am hoping for snow at Christmas this year. Last year it was cold but no snow.
Have a great day!

That's a lot of gingerbread and holds promise of tons of fun with the construction crew! Lol
Will you be selling the cutting boards on Etsy or are they Christmas gifts for your own sake? They are beautiful and the aprons are just too cute!

A ducky day! The gingerbread looks so good - I can imagine how wonderful the house smells with that baking. And the little aprons! My little has begun to enjoy doing kitchen things - stirring with great enthusiasm has been her thing lately. I would happily buy one of those little aprons if you ever put them up for sale.

Wow all that gingerbread is amazing. It always seems like you just snap your fingers and it all appears....I don't think that's how it all gets done. God bless you Bev, you sure do accomplish a lot...both inside and outside your house. Can't wait to see the pics from the gingerbread house making this weekend!
