Goodbye April

A rainy day kept us inside for much of yesterday.  Those who stayed outside wore soggy pajamas!

Every time we are out and about, we stop in to check on the chicklets.  Old Tom keeps watch over the chicken yard.

No chick-snatching intruders can make it past this fellow!

I am happy to report that all of them are still alive and seem quite robust.

A couple of the black ones have already developed a bit of an attitude and stand up to each other defiantly.  They are so comical.

They flit around their house at top speed and peck at everything laying on the ground.... quite busy little ones, they are!

Even with the rain (which we desperately needed), the farm is quite lovely.

All of the crabapple trees are flowering.

When the wind blows, it looks like pink snow falling from the trees.

The lilacs and snowball viburnum bushes are loaded with blossoms.  What a lovely smell they bring into the house!

And, out in the vegetable garden, things are coming up nicely.  Garlic and rhubarb -

radishes -

sugar peas and spinach -

onions -

a variety of different lettuces -

The rest of the garden is ready to finish planting.  As soon as I am sure we have no more frost ahead of us, I will be finishing this task.

I did a little more painting yesterday... this dog belongs to my daughter's friend:

Maybe I'll paint old Sammie next.  He's quite photogenic!

We will have a busy weekend here on the farm...full of grandchildren and sheep-shearing fun!

We'll be back Monday to share our adventures.  Have a great weekend!!

Everything is so beautiful! Do you let your rhubarb flower? I was told to not let it flower and go to seed. I think I am going to just leave it this year.

Glad you got some rain..Sadly, we got less than 1/4 inch..Nothing significant in the forecast..Guess I'll have to start using the hose already.
.I noticed in your video that the black chicks seemed more active..wondering if there might be a Rooster or two among them.
Beautiful photography..colorful

I don't mean to gush:) But you are TRULY an artist! You captured that dog's soul. I hope in the future you would think about (like you have a lot of down time:) accepting animals photos (I'd love a painting of my past loves - dogs, etc.) and doing a painting. *would help pay for Old Tom's feed! You GO GIRL!!
