What a weekend!
Where do I start?
Yesterday was my birthday...
and once in a blue moon it falls on the same day as Easter...
making it a very Hoppy Birthday!!
It was a perfect weekend.
Saturday's weather was superb... sunny and 52 degrees.
Given the choice of any activity, I chose a trip to a local garden center and then
home to work in the garden on Saturday.
I finished up planting seeds in the greenhouse.
All the seeds that I had started earlier this week are now seedlings
That yielded two monster roots...
and there are lots more.
Horseradish is one of those roots that multiplies like wildfire!
(Not to mention the fire that it leaves in your senses!)
I can't tell you how satisfying working in the garden soil was...
that loamy smell, the coolness of the dirt, and the knowledge
that my labor will be paid back 10+ fold this summer...with delectable fresh produce.
Hubbs planted a few new peach trees in a sunny spot on the edge of the woods.
After researching the subject, he learned that peach trees grow very well
on the edge of the woods, where the soil is full of fungi and decomposing organic matter.
Hopefully these trees bear lots of fruit in the coming years.
He also built a new garden box beside my garden shed
that will house a new and improved fairy garden.
This year I am planning a fairy village.
I can't wait to share it with you!
Sunday, Easter, and my birthday was rainy, but still a wonderful day!
A surprise visit from (daughter) Jenn and Tyler , (son)Andy, and my Mom...
a delicious dinner and cake made by Amanda...
and an afternoon surrounded by family
had me feeling loved and cherished.
Look at the adorable bunny rolls the girls made...
And the beautiful lemon poppyseed cake....
And of course, Easter wasn't complete until we had an Easter Egg hunt.
To my family...thanks for making me feel so special.
To my friends...thanks for all of the wishes.
I am truly the luckiest woman.
And to top it all off....
Spring has finally arrived!
There will be so many exciting things to share with you over the coming weeks.
I can hardly wait!!

Amanda and I cleaned up the garden boxes, planted radishes, onions and spinach.
We decided it was time to clean out some of the horseradish root from the herb box.
That yielded two monster roots...
and there are lots more.
