Continuing On...

Hello friend!  With a little extra time on my hands, today, I thought I might continue our farm update... addressing interest about our critters.

I am happy to say that all are well.

Moonie is heading for his 25th birthday this winter.  He continues to be a solid, sound guy with the very best manners.  I trust him implicitly - always gentle around other animals and children.  Losing an eye to cancer, a few years back, hardly made him miss a beat.  He stoically adjusted to his new normal without a hiccup.

Red turned 16 this past summer and continues to be in good health after contracting Lyme disease last year.  He was treated with a long course of antibiotics and has had no relapses.  Red, like Moonie, is such an honest, gentle horse and completely trustworthy as well.

The donkey gals are also healthy and seemingly happy.  They both turned 14 this past summer.

Normally out in the pasture first thing in the morning, today's breakfast was room service as the wind and rain (a much needed rain) made for somewhat vile grazing conditions.

The only change amongst our barn kitties is the addition of Augie.  And he has been a wonderful addition!

Pete is now the biggest cat I have even lifted.  He is one serious Tom-cat!

Moll, the old lady of the barn, continues to be my loyal garden helper.

Both black Beas are still with us...

as are a couple transient, shy, orange boys who frequent the hayloft of the barn and the bowl of cat food at night when we aren't around.

There are still 5 runner ducks - 3 of whom found the pond this summer and now visit it on a daily basis.

As for the pond... the wild ducks have returned, so there is a lineup for breakfast each morning.

We will always have chickens, of course, as we are spoiled by having fresh free-range eggs each morning.  We added 15 additional chicklets to our flock this past summer... most of whom have begun to lay eggs.

We still have 5 guinea fowl as well who patrol the neighborhood.

Now, for the home crew....

Annie (almost 13), Chester (7) and Forrest (2) are my constant companions.

We take daily walks to thru the woods so that everyone stays fit (myself included!). Annie is either deaf or getting senile.  I have definitely seen a change in her over the past year.  She's still my very best girlfriend, even though she's in her own little world these days.

And as always, Ivy rules the roost! Just ask her!!

Thanks so much for the lovely comments, yesterday.  You made my day... and also made me feel a little guilty for being gone so long.  Although I am not ready to take on daily blogging, I may, from time to time check in and share my thoughts on life and updates about the farm.
Thanks for being here!!
You are nothing short of wonderful❤️❤️

Thanks for all the critter updates. I am wondering though about how you get your barn kitties? Do they just show up and end up staying? Or do you adopt them from the shelter as barn cats?

I’ve missed you Bev. But glad all is well for the most part, heal quickly. But I understand when writing a blog can become a chore. We’ll all be happy with an occasional update.
