Happy Birthday - Look Who's Two!

I can hardly believe that this fellow is two years old today!

We had seen photos of his litter on our local rescue's Facebook page.  Of the eight puppies in the litter, it was this one that spoke to me online.  And later, when we visited the shelter, it was this fellow who climbed my leg and looked me square in the eye as if to say, "I was waiting for you!"

He had the markings of the first of our many canine loves, Sadie, a Bernese Mountain dog - and it didn't take long to see that he shared special characteristics of each of our previous dogs.  That combined with a feeling like there was more than one dog inside his skin led us to the conclusion that he carries the souls of each of the dogs we have had the privilege of loving!

What a journey those first few months were... I swear we spent the entire 2023 summer outside from sun-up to sun-down, just trying to tire-out this boy.  Chester did his best to ignore Forrest - it took a long time for him to warm up to the idea of having a brother.

Now... they are the best of friends are can often be seen lying next other each other on the floor.

(Pre-carpet-removal)

Forrest has brought back the playfulness in Chester.

I think he keeps us all just a bit younger!

Well, Spring has officially sprung here on the farm.  Each day, more and more new life shows itself.

The greenhouse is bursting with plant babies...

and even a few tiny mushrooms!

I am so excited for all of the color that the future holds!!

The horses are enjoying the emerging spring grasses - which means that their grazing time has to be quite limited to keep them from getting fat (fatter).

I think we were all ready for a change of seasons.  There is just so much to appreciate at this time of year!

Oh, and we had a farm visitor this past weekend... Easton is my farmer-in-training!  He's very earnest!

And he's missing his top front teeth!❤️

The office and bedroom flooring are complete - carpet removed and flooring laid.  I am really happy with how it matches the existing hardwood.

Oh, Forrest! He brings such joy to your lives, and we love watching him. Color is popping up here in Illinois - the Forsythia, Hyacinths, tulip Magnolias and Daffodils are out everywhere! It fills me with hope, seeing all of the color. LOVE the floors! I bet you're glad to have the mess done and all put back to right.

Love seeing the animals living such happy lives and enriching yours. Hubby was in the best place covered by and surrounded by critters! Sadie was such a sweet and beautiful creature and Forrest is too. So glad to see spring coming and hope it will raise spirits. We are concerned by the too early flowering but maybe frost will spare us.
