Short and Sweet

This will be a quick post... as it's late Sunday evening, and we just arrived home after driving through a snowstorm.  When we left the city, the streets were just wet and the lawns had a dusting of snow.  By the time we reached the farm, there were three inches on the ground.

I love when the farm transforms into a winter wonderland!

This snow won't last, as the rest of the week is to be a bit warmer.

It was an exceptionally busy weekend.  It was dance recital weekend for Mackenzie, and I had volunteered for rehearsal duty as her Mom was working and her Dad was home with the boys.  We spent most of the day Saturday at the theatre for tech rehearsal followed by dress rehearsal.

Then, on Sunday afternoon... back to the theatre for the recital.  I absolutely love to attend these performances each year.  After a few years of this, I have come to recognize a lot of the girls' faces - and enjoy seeing the improvements they have made over the years.  The combination of Christmas music and precious little girls (and guys) (and older girls, too) puts me in such a holiday spirit.  It's truly a joyous show to watch!

Before leaving for the city, on Sunday, we took the dogs for their woods walk.  Hunting season is over... so woods walks will resume on a daily basis.  Needless to say, the dogs were so happy to be back to exploring and following their noses.  It's good exercise for their bodies and their minds.

Forrest was a little sad to see that his "lake" had frozen... no swimming, just ice skating for now!

We are seeing a little improvement in Red's condition.  His bloodwork came back... everything was normal, with the exception of the Lyme disease test.  It showed that he definitely has Lyme disease... so we will continue with his antibiotics for a few more weeks.

I was able to squeeze in a little soap making... making a batch of balsam frost soap in these cute snowflake molds.  I also did a batch of bramble berry soap.  It smells like fresh strawberries and raspberries... these two will be ready later in January.  For now, they must cure for at least 4 weeks.

I also finished up my Christmas cookie baking with some gingerbread.  Instead of placing them flat on a plate to serve them, I "glued" them to a tray in a woodsy scene with royal icing... snowy trees and cottages with giant gingerbread men.  (In actuality, the gingerbread men are only about 2 ½ inches high.  The cottages are tiny!  Gingerbread dog houses!  Now I need to bake some tiny gingerbread dogs! (not!)

And with this, I am signing off and going to bed... exhausted.  Tomorrow is another day!
