A Fun Tradition

Tuesday found me away from the farm for most of the day.  (Hence no blog posting yesterday)  I joined friends for our annual pierogi-making day.

After several hours of working (and eating lunch...with cocktails) we had made hundreds of pierogis... some stuffed with mashed potatoes, some with mushrooms, and others with cabbage or sauerkraut or onion.

It's a truly wonderful annual event... filled with so much laughter!  And then, at the end, we divide up the pierogis and take them home to eat.

Sadly, I had left Jack at home feeling under the weather.  By the time I was on my way home again, he had succumbed to the flu and was feeling awfully miserable.  He is now sequestering himself in another part of the house to reduce my exposure (I have my fingers crossed that I don't get it!).

The worse part is... we have had to cancel our family Christmas party on Saturday.  Flu is contagious for 5 to 7 days after onset, so in order to avoid exposing our loved ones, we thought it prudent to cancel.  We should still be able to make Christmas dinner at The Littles' house - hoping that Jack is well by then!

For the time being, my chore help is this fellow.

Even though our snow is melting, he seems to find enough to play in...

Making snowballs and then pouncing on them...

You already know how much he loves the water... and the snow... well, that's even better than water!

Burying his nose in it....

Forrest is the most joyful dog we have ever known.  He finds something fun in every single activity.  Enthusiasm courses through his veins!  As for helping with the chores... he provides the comic relief!
