You have probably guessed by now that our Forrest has an extraordinary personality. He's very independent and spends many hours outside. If we are inside the house during the daytime, he chooses to remain outside adventuring around the farm. He never wanders far from the house - but he always finds some way to amuse himself. When we are outside, he follows us around - making up games, always playing.
He spends a lot of time with all of the animals... running with the horses,
and snuggling with Pete.
These two have such a special relationship. Forrest truly doesn't bother with any of the other barn cats... just Pete. And Pete always seeks out Forrest's company.
When we stop by the pond to feed the ducks, Forrest jumps right in and swims out to them.
Weeding flower beds can be a challenge with this guy who likes to position himself in the middle of the action.
Yesterday, while I was out working in the garden in front of Maven Haven, I glanced to my left, only to find Forrest on top of the pirate ship, curious about the sliding board.
After considering his options, he decided that the ramp might be the best option.
This was the first time he had ever ventured up there by himself. He's fearless!!
the garden is starting to fill in with all of the previously planted perennials. In a few weeks, this little space will be awash with color.
Now, its a tiny canvas of green with accents of yellow,
cream,
and white,
with one pop of red.
I can't tell you how happy I am to be back in the garden. We've been making good use of each herb and vegetable as it emerges. Fresh mint made into tea, parsley, chives, and thyme in my cooking. I made another batch of rhubarb crisp - delicious!
Yesterday's big surprise was the first handful of asparagus - asparagus, onion, baby kale and havarti cheese omelet for breakfast.
