Welcome December!

Life took me off of the farm for much of the past two days.  Upon my arrival back home, I immediately gathered up the dogs and went out for a walk.  After several days of very cold weather, yesterday gave us milder temperatures and I hated to miss an opportunity for a walk.  Although, at the present time, with deer hunting season happening in all of the woods around our own acreage - we avoid our woods and walk on the open fields of our farm.  Just to be safe.  Thankfully, deer season is only a couple of weeks each year.  Forrest will be happy to resume his daily forest walks, for sure - as will we!

We headed out to the barn to check on all of our friends.  As we passed the treat station, Ginger and Faith came running and begged for a few graham crackers.

Shameless beggars... both of them!

And, of course, they are rewarded for that behavior.  So... who's to blame?  (My motto: Why have animals if you can't spoil them just a little!)

We walked to the pond to check how many ducks remained.  There have been 80+ ducks there each morning... requiring that the feed bowl be filled twice a morning so that everyone gets their breakfast.

By this time (late afternoon), about half of the ducks remained and soon after flew off to their sleeping spots for the night (another pond, we assume.)

Forrest ran right into the pond to join the ducks,

went for a swim (a few laps)

then hopped out, and shook the water out of his coat.  This crazy boy seems impervious to the cold.

Over the last week, we have begun to decorate for Christmas.  Hubbs put the fence-post snowmen up.  There are four of them.

This year we decided to forgo a fresh-cut Christmas tree and bought a tree that will last the rest of our lives.  It comes in 4 easy to build sections and lights beautifully.  I think it looks lovely in the living room - even undecorated as it is.  We'll decorate it this weekend.

I'll share as we decorate.

That's a beautiful tree! I seriously looked at getting an artificial tree this year but my husband said he wasn't ready. We will get ours today and decorate it out on the patio where we can see it and it is safely out of reach of our new puppy!

The first picture of Ginger and Faith is priceless! ๐Ÿ˜‚
We have used an artificial tree for a while. Some of them look real, but of course no pine scent. The big advantage is no mess and no watering. I always get a real wreath though for my front door. No compromise there!

Oh, I adore those snowmen on the fence posts! How magical they look!

Thankful that hunting season will be over soon. How wonderful that you have an alternative place to hike.

Blessings to you and yours in this new month. Be Blissed!

Love the noses thru the fence!!
Love your snowmen..
I guess it's time for an artificial tree..It's a pretty tree..It's hard to make the change..Then came the day that the artificial one was too heavy to get out of the basement..After that, it was a fresh one on the front porch that lasted until the Robins started to make nests in it in the Spring..Then it was time to take it down.
Have a good weekend..It's going to be a good time to decorate the tree...

I think your tree is beautiful. I have 3 artificial trees up and 2 of them look real and the other one is a just for fun kind of tree decorated with all moose decorations. I got tired of real tree dying before Christmas arrived so I crossed over.lol
