Writing a daily (almost) blog is not always as easy as it might look.
Sure, the subject matter is always there. But in spite of that, there are times when I sit down at the computer and struggle for new and interesting ways of describing the beautifully mundane... where life ticks along with routine certainty.
On random occasions, however, there are real obstacles to writing - physical obstacles... actually one, in particular.
This little one, so demure and sweet one minute, can be a complete pain in the "behindertail" at another.
There's no regard given to the fact that I am sitting here, trying to create something. No, at this particular moment the cat has needs. And needs must be met. Like... please let me rub myself against your body and stick my tail up your nose. If you love me, you'll let me....
Over and over, she rubs herself on me and tickles my nose with her tail until I sneeze!
That activity finished, she moves on to one of her favorite cat and mouse games.
Is nothing sacred?
Lord help me if I try to intervene. I am reprimanded with a sharp swipe across my hand.
No, I must wait until Ivy, Her Ladyship, is quite finished with the game of the moment.
No worries, she quickly moves on to another game... "bat the lamp pull". She watches as the pendulum, that she has set in motion, swings...
occasionally helping it along its path.
About 90 seconds later, she becomes bored with this game as well.
Now it't time for a stare-off. I have no choice but to play.
Moments later, I reach for the mouse and she swats my hand away.
Games over. The cat is evicted. And work resumes.
You see? I need to ask for hazard pay for this blogging job! What's that? No pay? Oh, that's right... I do this for the fringe benefits. What's that? No benefits? Hmmmmm.... me needs to rethink this arrangement! [laughing]
Two photos that Jack took...
The morning sun glistening on the ice-tipped tree branches. I wish you could have been there... the woods looked like it was strung with Christmas lights!
Breakfast time... arrival flights on a crowded runway... all flights on time this morning!
I know that it may seem crazy how we feed all of these ducks, but our two domestic ducks count on us to feed them and there is no way to keep the wild ducks from partaking... so we end up feeding everyone. It's ok... not complaining in the least. Ducks are such benign creatures. Their presence on the pond makes me very happy!

It seems people love to visit the world of another. You never know how much a blog post can mean to someone else. Maybe someone who can't get out to do things, or doesn't have family to visit or whatever the case may be. But they can visit others through blogs, email and such. Never underestimate what sharing a bit of your life can do for another. It can be a real blessing to others.
Hope you can hunker down and stay safe in this next storm.
Love the kitties and glad they all have a nice warm home with you! Enjoy your weekend!
I enjoy anything you write about, it is one of the best parts of my day.
Enjoy your snow! We are supposed to get a significant amount here in the Piedmont and I couldn't be happier!
Visiting BHA every morning is far from mundane ... I do miss you on the weekends, however, that just makes Monday so much better!
I don't think we have to tell you to enjoy your days off! 🐈

Always enjoy your thoughts. As most of our worlds are made of the mundane & little moments in life, best to enjoy what we have as it is presented. Have a safe and warm weekend.

I didn't know that black and white cat that we saw quite awhile ago, is still coming around. I hope s/he and Gus can learn to get along, like all the rest. You have such a sweet group of critters around every corner of your place. That's just one reason why I end every evening with a visit to your farm. Wishing you all will fare well during the coming snow storm. Take good care.
