Yesterday's mail brought a big surprise. A large, plain white envelope came from Farm and Ranch Living Magazine. I assumed it was a subscription offer, but opened it anyways.
In addition to the above copy of their magazine, was this letter...
I paged through the magazine, until I came upon this particular page. Something looked quite familiar here! For the life of me, I cannot remember sending this submission in to this magazine. If I did... I did so many years ago. This particular photo is a pretty old one, as my hair has not been that short for the past six years!
Regardless, it sure was a fun surprise!! Ginger and MaryAnn are famous!! They've made it to the Big Time, or was that the Pig Time?
I am happy to report that Forrest and Ramona are settling in quite nicely. Upon my opening of the door to the duck house yesterday morning, they ran right out into the yard and hopped in their hot tub (pool that had just been filled with warm water). Once bath time was complete, they enjoyed a snack of collard greens.
The other ducks were quite curious, and kept waddling over to check out the greens. No one else partook of the delicacy, however!
As the other ducks would approach, Forrest and Ramona would retreat.
Then, after the other ducks waddled away disinterested, Forrest and Ramona would continue snacking.
This little dance repeated over and over.
Yesterday was a lovely, but still bitter cold, day.
I took my inspiration from the newly fallen layer of snow and painted a snow scene from a stock photograph that I found online. It's not great, but it was fun to try and I learned some things in the process.
Oh, how I love fresh flowers!! Thanks, Jack.
