Chester had his Vet visit yesterday. Of course, being the rambunctious fellow that he is, he needed to be sedated in order to get a good examination, and a definitive diagnosis. The great news is... he did NOT tear his ACL.
This boy, who just may be prone to over-dramatization, has a sore toe!
We had looked at his feet and did not see any cause for the pain. The Vet, however, detected some swelling in his toe and after shaving the area found that he had a puncture wound there.
I cannot tell you how relieved we are that this little fellow doesn't need to go through major reconstructive surgery. A course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication should have him back to fulfilling his farm duties in no time!
And, just like that, my worry list is empty again!!
It seems that our little Pete is taking his farm duties quite seriously these days...watching over the front pasture....
making sure that all equines behave themselves.
Prince Pete, surveying his kingdom! He has no fear of the equines and is often out in the dry lot with them when I am at the barn.
We've been keeping our hens in their yard for the past few days. The youngsters have begun laying, and we want to make sure that they get in the habit of laying in the nesting boxes in their houses and not acting like our silly guineas (dropping eggs here and there all around the farm!) And still these five crazy girls are escaping through the covered roof over the yard and nesting in the willow tree.
Then, each morning, they run back into their yard for their morning treats! Silly girls. Maybe when winter arrives and they realize that they have a warm, dry roosting spot available to them, maybe then they will give up "camping" in the tree!
I spent much of yesterday off the farm... tending to family matters. Part of the day was spent babysitting our littlest Little (of the local Littles, that is) Elijah.
He is quite mobile these days and such a happy baby!
Our little Wren (in North Carolina) is also quite mobile, quite chatty, and another happy baby...

Love the title " Prince Pete"! Very fitting.
Have a wonderful day on your farm!
Your Grandbabies are so doggone adorable!
We had a log home nibbler too... Caught in the act... It was a groundhog. Hope your intruder is gone for good.
Have a great day! Lisa G in TN
My taxonomy professor used to say it takes two people to determine if a mushroom is poisonous or not…1 to eat it, and 1 to take notes.
KEEP SMILING !!!!!!!
Thanks for the news about the log-eater....hope he's gone for good.
