A Reprieve

The sheep are overjoyed.

They've received a reprieve.

Shearing will happen later this week or next week,

but not today. [ phew!]

To tell you the truth, I am more relieved than they are!

Our cold weather continues through the middle of this week.

And with nights that dip down to and below freezing,

we certainly cannot have sheep sleeping with no pajamas!

Have you ever seen a two headed sheep?

They will be so happy to be rid of their fleeces...

especially with temperatures rising by the end of the week.

Look at this dramatic sky... yesterday's weather was so changeable...

chilly, rains, winds, sunshine... every hour or so, something different.

I am happy to report that Sally and O'Malley have adjusted

quite well to their new home.

With three enclosed yards to roam, there is plenty of grazing space,

and no one to push them around.

I spent most of yesterday finishing up the walls of the shed.

We had done everything but the two gabled ends.

The shiplap for these areas had to be cut at a 26.5 degree angle

so that it would line up with the pitch of the roof.

Later, I worked on finishing the windows...

painting the window frame and cutting out and staining

window sills.

I hung some lighting... (no electricity required)

To the right of the window is an antique match dispenser.

I still have to make window sills for the two side windows.

This is a cross stitch that my Mom made for me years ago.

It will hang on this wall above my desk.

Finally, my little antique Fatso wood stove has a home...

and a teapot so that we can have tea!

I don't think I told you the story of this little stove

that used to heat the caboose of a train, did I?

I found it on FB Marketplace and it was listed for $200.

(I had seen one on Ebay for $1000)

This one was in perfect working condition without a bit of rust...

mint condition... too good to be true.

I drove an hour (back in February) to pick it up and upon

arriving, the gentleman selling it said,

"I have good news and bad news."

"The bad news is, when I was lifting it, I broke one of the legs.

The good news is... you can have it for $50."

Sold! 

 I took the leg to a welder who works with wrought iron,

and it is now as good as new.

I still have to hook up the stovepipe to the roof receptacle,

and then I am ready to heat this room with wood...

and also will be able to cook on the stove.

Come to visit... I'll put a kettle on for tea!
