A Grands Weekend

Part of our weekend was spent with the most delightful
nine-year-old... Tyler.
I can hardly believe how big he has grown... it seems like only yesterday he was an infant.

Now he is a busy young man who enjoys
playing the guitar, singing, swimming on the swim team, and playing soccer...
not to mention Boy Scouts, and school activities.
His activities, alone, fill up our calendar.

We started our Friday with a trip to Mackenzie and Easton's school,
where they were celebrating "Special Friends" day
(aka: grandparents day).

Seeing us seated, Easton came running and sat on my lap for the short program.

Included in our trip to town was a stop at the Farmers Market
to stock up on vegetables for the coming week.

We are able to purchase locally grown, organic (hothouse) greens
and lettuces at the market....
which, to us, is preferable over the plastic-packaged greens that the supermarket carries,
that are shipped from across the continent (and farther.)
We have committed ourselves to buying locally grown produce as much as possible,
and, at least, produce that comes without packaging.

Although it is a 45 minute drive to the Farmers Market,
we combine our weekly trip with other activities,
such as visiting with family or friends.

Tyler arrived Saturday afternoon and stayed for a sleep-over.
Because  Saturday was a rainy day,
we took him to see the movie "Dr. Dolittle", which, of course, he loved.

By late afternoon, as we were headed back to the farm, the sun came out
and the sunset was spectacular.

The rest of our day was spent doing farm chores and playing board games.

Playing Checkers with Ty reminded me of my own childhood,
and how my grandma would play board games with me for hours.

Hubbs was happy to have someone to play with as well!!

Sunday morning, Tyler joined us for morning chores.

He's such a happy guy,

and so easy to entertain.

Chester was very happy to have Tyler visit and even slept with him at night.

After all, Tyler was Chester's boy, before Chester came to live at the farm.

Dog's don't forget!

Fun weekend!! Our grand daughter turns 8 tomorrow and she too is so happy and full of enthusiasm. It's hard to see the time flying by so fast but that is exactly why every moment is special.
