Ole Man Winter... You're Getting Old!

We're in the midst of another cold snap.
Icy winds blow, and although the sun is shining, nothing melts.

It's that time of year when I fear we may still have snow on the ground in June.

It won't happen... never has... but still there's a tiny fear deep in the pit of my soul...
made deeper by the lack of warmth and color in our world.

I choose to see winter as beautiful.
I choose to enjoy the cold weather
(of course, warm clothing and a warm house make that possible...
and are nothing that I take for granted!")

I choose to enjoy whatever Mother Nature throws at us... within reason, of course.
But... I am human (as are we all),  and we have our limits... right?

So I am sending a petition to Mother Nature.
We need some warmth.
We need the snow to melt.
We need the snowdrops to bloom.

I am sure I can get the hoofprint or footprint of almost every animal on the farm
for this petition.

Except...

These two are so happy in the cold.
They are toasty warm in their bulky, hooded sweaters.

They spend their days near their hay feeder...

and come to the fence for treats...

and sleep out under the stars
(they prefer their houses when it precipitates.)

Winter life is good for Faith and Hope.
They were built for this.

I was asked what I am working on these days.
Never being idle, I have done quite a bit of sewing.
I finished this tunic yesterday...

I am still working on the grey Icelandic sweater
(body and one sleeve finished... one more sleeve to go and then I will join
all three and begin the decorative yoke.  At that point I will have something to show you,
that's worth seeing.)

I love those tunics, so versatile. I'll be waiting to see the sweater :)
Everyone is tired of winter here too!

i'm still hanging in here enjoying what is left of this snowless winter. i'm giving up hope of snow though. i did read in the farmer's almanac that we will have below average temps for most of summer. i hope they are right.

I'm in line to sign the petition too! I miss the color of the warmer seasons, although I hope it's not a super hot/humid summer. Moderation is good!
Love your tunic!

Faith and Hope look like little fluffy happiness. I can't remember but do you use their wool for your knitting?

Just wondering: What breed of sheep are Faith and Hope? And, what is the story behind the log building with the red roof? It's pretty in the snow.
