Will Somebody Please Turn Off The Sprinkler System?

With nothing but a squash leaf as a flimsy umbrella,
Gertie Guinea has been sitting on her clutch of precious eggs...
with patience in her bones and hope in her heart...
through almost 6 inches of rain, now.

It came as gentle sprinkles and torrential downpours, that rain,
and continues to come...
challenging every fiber of her constitution.
And yet, stalwart, she remains...
ever vigilant, lovingly tending to the potential that lies in the eggs beneath her.

At least one more week remains in her confinement.
And then, I wonder what kind of mother she'll be.
Will she be as patient with her gaggle of tiny, active guinea keets as she has been with the eggs?
It all remains a mystery...
a mystery that I hope to witness in due time.

Yes, the rain continues.
Our world is soggy.
And although it is not hot outside, we had to turn on the air conditioning for a period of time
just to reduce the relative humidity within the walls of our home.
Otherwise, I fear we will all end up covered in mildew.

The horses have finally lost their patience with the precipitation,
and prefer to remain under cover.

After days of indoor boredom,
the pigs and sheep have given up on remaining dry and have once again
returned to the front pasture...
choosing tasty grass over physical comfort.

Extra games of fetch help to cure the cabin fever that is creeping into the dog's days.
They willingly follow us into whatever weather is out there.
Dogs are adventurers who are not easily put off by a few (or more) showers.

And so, here we are....
still socked in with rain...
losing internet signals, satellite signals and electricity on and off
as our soggy world tries to keep from drowning.

It's time for the sun to re-emerge.
Have you seen it anywhere?

If you have, please direct it our way.
There are puddles in our puddles....
and just like our ducks, our every step is full of slosh!
