Fly season has officially started.
because the equines are incognito.
Yes, fly masks are back on again.
And the solar fly catchers are working hard!
Every year I talk about these fly catchers...
because they are the best fly trap we have ever had...
and we have about a dozen around the farm...
and we've had them for years and years.
(There's a link on the sidebar of this page if you find yourself in need.)
I must warn you... you must fill the dish beneath the fly catcher with the
smelliest substance known to man.
The flies just love it!!
And while we are on the subject of pests...
there has been a fox in our front pasture for the past several evenings.
As a precautionary measure, we have been keeping the guineas confined to their yard for a few days...
until the fox figures out there is nothing good to eat here.
Since they are in their own yard, we have been able to harvest eggs each day.
Eight eggs each day... eight tiny, delectable gourmet eggs!

Several years ago, we placed this swing in the yard by the barn.
I planted two wisteria in hopes that some day they would cover the arbor.
Swinging beneath a canopy of blooming wisteria just seemed so romantic.
Finally, years later my wish has come true... and it is quite romantic!

A few more noteworthy blooms...
Purples seem to be abundant at this time of year.
A week or so ago, I mentioned that our single remaining Muscovy duck had
gotten broody and was sitting on a lone egg.
Tuesday we took that egg away.
It was time... time to get on with life.
Wednesday morning she was back outside roosting on the roof of the duck hut.
We were relieved to see her out and about once again.
We need to find her some friends!

Fly Masks, not as pretty but must “ save the day!”
Rain, humid, high 90’s . . . mosquitoes, bugs, ants, no see ‘ems . . . WOW!
All of a sudden . . . are you bothered with mosquitoes?
