Feeling Their Oats

We are enjoying our second straight week of cool nights
and temperate days.
And everyone around here is "feeling their oats!"

The horses go out to pasture early in the morning.

Because of the cooler weather, they enjoy kicking up their heels a bit.
And naturally... when they start running, Sammy feels the need to join them.
Sammy is the kind of dog who can always be found where everyone is having the most fun!
(And it's in those moments when it's really hard to listen to your mom!...as you are about to see.)

You might remember how we moved Milford (the red star rooster)
to his new home at the barn last week.
I worried at first that he might be lonely.
And then witnessed him making the rounds, visiting with the pigs, the turkeys, etc.
This past weekend he ventured up to the upper henhouses,
and since then spends a good deal of time there during the day.

At night, however, he returns to the barn
and retires here...

on the workbench... in the comfort of a cat bed!
No worries about this rooster's life... that's for sure!

Sam is like Teddy my sons dog I babysat. They are like a kid. They have there own mind. Isnt it funny when we call them we say Good Boy and he is the opposite of what you wanted him to do.

I am laughing.

Oh maybe we are mixed up not the dog. As he comes to you and he thinks he has been a Good Boy for what. We give Teddy a treat but poor Sam did not get his treat.

Loved the run about video with Sam anyway.

What abeautiful farm land you have and the rooster and all the animals I love to watch your horses. They sure loved to run.

Is Sam just wanting to run with them or he has other plans to nipple at the horses ankles?

Just wondering.

Which cat gave up her bed?? (Her name escapes me)..I haven't seen her for awhile...Your voice calling Sam brought Mollie running from the closet where she was taking her mid morning nap..I love the sight of horses running through the pastures..Sam listens like Mollie..(eventually)

Haha, smart rooster claiming the cat bed!

What a beautiful sight to see the horses running! Such majestic animals! Sammy's too cute... he wants to play and run, too!
But Mom, it's just so much fun, and everyone else is playing.

Milford is just the kind of rooster that everyone would like to have.

So sorry about Rod! I have a polish that INSISTS on sleeping in nest boxes. I have stopped that by placed a big ball in each at night. Now, he wants to roost outside the safety of the coop up on top of it, high in the avocado tree. I have tired of fighting him, and let him be a couple of times. I am rethinking it.
So sorry.
