We rode into the weekend on Summer's coat tails....
hot and muggy weather.
Then, a monsoon blew through on Saturday afternoon
(horizontal sheets of cat and dog rain with gale force winds)
helping Summer on her way;
and Autumn made his official appearance.
Cool breezes, crackly leaves, dew kissed spiders' webs greeted us on Sunday.
We started our Sunday with the usual farm chores,
followed by our Sunday morning tradition...Farm Breakfast...
(this week's menu included Caprése omelets [tomato, basil and mozzarella]
with homemade popovers and homemade jams)

In honor of the arrival of autumnal weather,
we gathered our cameras and lenses and
took the dogs on a hike in our 100 acre wood on Sunday.
This is one of their favorite cooler weather activities.
So many smells to follow,
a forest full of wild critters and wild critter scents...
We hiked and followed our trails, planning new trails to link one trail to another,
all the while stopping to take it all in
and photograph the scenery,
both close up
and distant.
A few rest stops were needed, for old girls with big bones.
Long walks are tiring for Maddie
and Sadie.
By the time we returned from our hike, it was time to collect eggs and
do the afternoon chores.
A kayak trip with friends followed afternoon chores.
Kayaking down our favorite river seemed another fitting activity for this
transitional Summer to Autumn day.
A special dinner cooked by Hubbs topped off the day...
a perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Have missed your blog. Hubby had heart surgery so have been away. We are hoping to get him home today. Lng recovery but he is still with us.
Will be back to my own chores soon. Your post helps with our not being able to see our friends for another week or so.
A relaxing weekend is awesome!!
