Lessons My Dogs Teach Me

Most of my day is spent in the company of
dogs.
Did I say most?
I mean all!

Each and every day my friends teach me
lessons about life.

Like....

The value of playtime....

The importance of loyalty....

How to be patient....

And, to never give up....

Most importantly, my dogs have taught me
that there is nothing in this world
more important than love....
and they give it so freely!

****

I saw a quote that sums it all up....

"I want to be the kind of person that my dog thinks I am"

*Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know
evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a
dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to
be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not
boring--it was peace."
-- Milan Kundera

* "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you
 more than he loves himself."
-- Josh Billings

* "Man is a dog's idea of what God should be."
-- Holbrook Jackson

* "The average dog is a nicer person
than the average person."
-- Andrew A. Rooney

* "One reason a dog is such a lovable creature
is his tail wags instead of his tongue."
-- Unknown

Love this post! And I agree ~ we can learn much from our dogs. What great quotes you have listed, too. I've always thought dogs must be very special to God ~ dog is God spelled backwards!

Wonderful post! I too loved it. I just read yesterday that petting a dog produces seratonin! I need more of that with this crumby winter we are getting into! lol

I know what you mean. My two greet me every morning with their sweet faces. I spend a lot of my time with them. They always want to be with me. All they want is love.

I use to tell my son when he was little, "All a person needs is the love of a good dog"
He has followed in his momma's footsteps and always has a dog in his lap.

I've been lucky enough to sneak some of my dogs to work every now and then. They make the day so much better! Without them, work takes over, I scowl at the flourescent lights, and I'm cranky by day's end. With them, I remember to breathe, to walk, to play and laugh, to have respect and discipline, and to take the trash out regularly so they don't chew on the take-out box from that Thai place I went to Saturday night.

You are so right. I can't imagine not having mine around. My Corgi girl is nearly 11 and starting to slow down now, and I remind myself daily that I need to love and kiss on her every day because the day is getting closer when I won't be able to do that.

Love this post! Because Mr Primcat and I both work we have chosen to remain dogless until we have more freetime. It's been 10 years since we've had a dog now. Someday though!

I do however have a cat/dog that posesses all the wonderful qualities of a dog. Her name is Tracy and she teaches me everyday too. :)
