When you live on a farm, you are keenly aware of flies during the summer. They drive both humans and animals crazy. For several years we have been using Arbico Organics Fly Eliminators (gnat sized parasitic wasps that are sprinkled over manure piles and prey upon developing fly larvae). This year, however, we have added another weapon to our fly catching arsenal....the Solar Flycatcher . This particular invention is the best flycatcher we have ever used...and the good news is it uses no harmful chemicals. The flies are lured into the trap with a very smelly yeast mixture. They are subsequently trapped inside a metal screened area where the sun dessicates them.
The picture below was taken just one hour after we set out this new solar flycatcher. You can see it already has lured and trapped a huge amount of flies....and in only one hour! This product wins our "Good Farmkeeping" seal of approval. It is a little pricey, but it will last forever, I suspect. To me it is worth its weight in gold!
