Hay Crisis!

"Ahhemm...could I have everyone's attention?"

"Do I really have to tell them, Mom?"

"Ok, listen up, everyone....
it looks like we are going to have a critical hay shortage around here this year.
We are all going to have to do our part and eat just a little less hay.
It's time to tighten our belts a little bit."

"What about all that hay in the field?"

(Sadly, that hay has been hit by too much rain and is not salvageable.
Jim and I have worked Tin Lizzy like crazy,
trying to dry the hay....to no avail.)

"Less hay!!  We might all starve!"

"Now, don't worry, kids...
there will still be enough for all of us.
But we can't be wasting any of it...
and we could all stand to lose just a little weight!"

"Speak for yourself, Moonbeam!"

"If I get too hungry, I'll just take a bite out of Daphne!"

  2. Such a shame. Seems hard to ever get the right weather to make hay. With the drought, I'm actually going to have to buy hay. Of course, I feel lucky to have a source close to home.

  3. Yes... sounds like horses across America will all be dieting this year. How sad....

  5. Mother Nature can be cruel. We pay a fortune for hay with much of it being hauled from Oregon. Fortunately we aren't feeding too many, although Harry and Gunny always think they need more more more!

  6. Poor babies, they are already thinking about the weight loss, DIET, yikes! Hopefully someone will have some hay for sale but I'm sure it will be hard to find. Just tell them they get a little more grain, yum, yum! This sure bring back memories from my childhood - hay & weather! Have a great day, hugs!

  9. Tee hee. Cute post. But not so funny about the hay! What a bummer. Hope you have enough so there is no biting of one another!

  10. I've learned so much from your blog. Who would of thought there was good hay and spoiled hay. I will have a new appreciation for hay fields when I see one from now on.
