A Weekend of Happy Dances

Though, for the most part, it was a quiet weekend at home,  we managed to fit in a couple of adventures... Friday, a 23 mile bike ride through the cool morning air, to the grocery store, and the local pastured meat market.

Then, on Saturday morning, we took a trip to a local college town (this time by car)... stopping at our favorite little market and health food store for some organic purple rice, "forbidden rice" and a couple of bread ingredients as well.  This little shop is the happiest place - both inside and out!

Our final, and most important, destination was a French bakery that recently opened in this town (Lewisburg, home of Bucknell University)... The Paris Bakery.

It's the cutest little bakery with the most heavenly croissants, tarts, breads, and macarons!

My favorite, thus far, is a French vanilla croissant.  It's a wonderfully flaky, huge croissant stuffed basically stuffed with creme brûlée.  It just might be the most scrumptious thing I have ever tasted.   Each bite, unleashing a small zephyr of powdered sugar, made my taste buds dance with delight!

Hubbs opted for a dish of frozen yogurt from a shop across the street - but secretly, I think he regretted that decision.

Back on the farm, we spent a bit of time weeding "horse weed" from our outdoor arena.  These tall plumes of feathery green are really easy to pull from the sandy surface of the arena.  By the time we finished on Saturday, we were more than half way finished.

As we worked, a large black cloud appeared over our heads.

I kept my fingers crossed - which is challenging while pulling weeds.  But... it payed off.  By the time we reached the chicken coops - stopping to close up the girls for the evening - the rain started to soak us.

And by the time we were done with bed-time chores - I looked like this... soggy, but quite happy.  It poured for about a half hour, dumping a good, much-needed half inch on the farm.

And now you've seen the best of me and the worst of me... both doing a happy dance!!

Sunday, we awoke to a damp, foggy farm.

We did morning chores and picked the garden...

By afternoon, the sun was shining and hot.  I remembered that we had a kiddie pool stored away - so we decided to get it out for Forrest to take a dip.  At first it took a little encouragement, but he soon got the hang of it and stepped in and cooled himself off!

I also spent a little time sitting out back watching the hummingbirds with my "good" camera...

We have a good amount of hummers this year - three on the above feeder, until they decide to chase each other away!

Coming in for a landing.

This little gal was sitting in a walnut tree several yards away with something in her beak - I have no idea what it is.  Moments later, however, it was gone.
