Opposite Day

 It's amazing how different two side-by-side days can be.  Yesterday began without sun - fog and heavy clouds hung over the herd as they silently munched their breakfast.

By noon, just as the farrier was finishing the last of 28 hoofs, the clouds parted and the sun burst into a clear blue sky.  How delightful to take a nap in the sun!

A word about the farrier visit... all seven of the herd behaved themselves splendidly.

Well, this little guy was a little bit "rootchey"-

but he behaved himself enough to earn a carrot treat at the end.

Moonie is the best of the horses - picking up his feet before it is even requested.  He knows the drill after all these years.  (The rest of the horses know it too, but pretend that they don't.)

Little Miss Chloe, who used to have to be tied closely to a fence post for the farrier to work on her, now stands perfectly still and holds her own lead rope.  I think she might trim her own hoofs if only she had thumbs!  

After a morning spent at the barn, I was ready to break out the bikes for an afternoon bike ride. 

 The temperature soared into the high 60's - perfect for a trip down familiar country roads.

The sunlight shimmered in the stream that runs alongside our favorite road.

Even with next to no green, and certainly no wildflowers blooming, it was still lovely out - so good to feel the warmth of the sun on our shoulders as we rode.  

The warmth is temporary, though - things are to be more seasonable in the coming weeks.  Still, we can't complain.  We've had little-to-no winter to speak of and spring is just around the corner!
