Our sweet Scarlet has been giving us a run for the money the past few days.
Ever since we started letting the ponies and miniature horses run themselves up to the upper pasture in the morning, Scarlet has decided she is not going to be caught.
As a result, her morning runs to the pasture have been curtailed. Instead, we walk her up to the pasture and home to the barn again with a halter and lead rope.
You know the saying, "give them an inch and they'll take a mile"? Well, that's Miss Scarlet to a T!
Yesterday, after bringing Scarlet back to the dry lot, as I was waiting for her to finish her chow,
I felt someone nibbling on my jacket.
who had taken my zipper pull in her mouth and giving it a tug. Cheeky donkey!
While at the barn, I fed the pigs their lunch.
This is a typical scene lately. ❤️
Now, to answer a few questions. I was asked how long we keep our chickens quarantined after we've had a predator attack. We keep them in for 6 weeks in order to assure that the predator has moved on to another hunting ground. I hate keeping my hens in their own yard, but I hate losing a hen even more.
Also, I never told you about our pierogi making day last week. I'm not sure how many pierogis we made - but it felt like about a thousand! We made potato/cheese, cabbage, and sauerkraut pierogis... and they were delicious! It was a wonderfully fun day spent with friends.
Today's a big day... Amanda and Tim arrive home from Colorado for a holiday visit. Ginger will be so happy to see her special person again!

It's been forever since I've had a pierogi...
Glad T & A are coming home for the holidays...Enjoy their visit.
I love pierogies. Found some store bought ones at Publix that look almost homemade. They are so good but I have to ration myself because of diabetes.
It makes me so happy to see the sheepie girl with her piggie sisters - love takes so many forms.
Your pierogi party looks like such fun - what a lovely group of friends and family you have.

The pierogi party looks fun and it makes me think of other gatherings women have during the holidays to make traditional foods, like tamales or dumplings. It's good to see these traditions live on.
Have a wonderful Christmas party!
