We had a perfectly wonderful weekend on the farm...
surrounded by our people.
Tyler arrived Friday and we filled his day with lots of activity.
He was greeted by his dog, Chester... who always remembers that Tyler loved him first.
Before heading out in search of adventure,
we brought the horses back to the barn from the upper pastures...
and visited with the donkeys...
During a woodsy hike with the dogs, Tyler asked to hear about the magic of the forest.
We discussed fairies and elves and and how only those who believe
are able to see the world of the wee folk.
From the woods, we headed to the stream to do a little creek walking.
With my tall rubber boots on as well as a bug net to keep the gnats off his face,
Tyler headed out into the water to explore.
He searched through the water for signs of life...
and found tiny tadpoles...
unusual fungi...
and "quicksand"...
which very quickly swallowed up his boot!
A lot of muddy laughter ensued as we rescued his boot from the clutches of the creek.
We ended our day with a bonfire and s'mores.
On Saturday, we held a birthday celebration in the pavilion for my beautiful Momma...
Four generations spent the afternoon laughing and gnoshing on
"make it yourself" pizzas and picnic food.
I love my family beyond words...
and those three grandchildren make my heart overflow with joy!
Cousins played in the garden...
and the garden playhouse...
We picked and ate fresh, ripe strawberries.
By the time Sunday rolled around, we were ready for a quiet day of rest.
Luckily, the weather cooperated with a day of continuous showers....
just what we needed... and just what the garden needed as well.
We seem to have a lot of summer birthdays in our family...
making summers filled with celebration.
Next weekend is Tyler's 8th birthday (where did those years go!)
PS... Happy Birthday to Mackenzie and Easton's Momma today!
Happy Birthday Ashley!

I think Tyler needs to keep his own rubber boots at your place. You never know when they will come in handy!
Sweet memories...
Happy Summer!
Connie :)
Sounds like it was a wonderful weekend . . . rain included . . .
