A family Thanksgiving celebration always fills my heart...
with enough love and gratitude to last forever.

This year's Thanksgiving was one that will take its place in our memories with so many others...
in a warm, sweet spot in our hearts!
After what seemed like days and days of cooking and baking and preparation,
we set the dinner table with a scrumptious traditional feast.
Two smoked chickens took the place of our traditional turkey this year...
though, certainly not planned or on purpose...
as the turkey had a very unfortunate mis-hap whilst cooking away in the smoker.
Smoked chicken was plan B, and not a bad plan at all...
for chicken has a way of retaining its delicious moisture so much better than turkey...
and if it is smoked... almost difficult to tell the difference in taste!
The table was set with the perfect centerpiece!
We ate and played and visited... four generations all together.
Ryan (Amanda's twin brother) was home from North Carolina...
and never without his guitar, which fascinated the little ones...
Holidays were always fun... but with little ones in the house... holidays
are magical!
Saturday we headed into the country north of us in search of the perfect
Christmas tree.
We found a new tree farm...
and had a lovely time traversing its tree-lined hills.
The weather was perfect... not too cold.
We laughed and laughed over this poor crooked tree...

wondering how it would look in a proper stand... it's body horizontal to the floor!
This was the first tree farm that we had ever experienced that charged a flat rate per tree...
$25 no matter what size tree we chose.
We picked a very tall tree for our living room (cathedral ceiling)
and a shorter one for our family room.
Perfect.
(We'll work on decorating them in the coming days and share them with you at that time.)
Sunday, after our traditional Sunday Farm Breakfast...
we gathered the girls and the children of the family to build and decorate
our Gingerbread Houses.
We will definitely continue this tradition!
By the end of the day every surface of the dining room was decorated with royal frosting...
or some other confection!
It was the perfect event to kick off the holiday season.
It seems we have some very artistic members of this family!
We even paid tribute to our canine friends!
Tyler and Mackenzie visited their favorite animal friends...
helping to give out treats...
and hugs!
This coming week should be a relatively quiet one...
we'll take the opportunity to rest a little after four solid days of fun.

What a wonderful weekend! Your gingerbread houses are beautiful! Did you make the panels or buy them? I used to make them but not always with great success. Would love to find panels already baked and ready to assemble and decorate.
