Comfy Spaces

Yesterday was one of those autumn days where the weather changed
every hour.

We had several showers throughout the morning,
so I took the opportunity to take a few photos of our loft.
(As requested)

This is a space I have not shown since we first built the house.

The loft sitting room (library) is our favorite in the autumn and winter.

The views from the windows, both front

 and back

are best when the leaves are off the trees.

I had a fun time decorating this room with some antique shop finds,

like this old trapper's basket...

The furs were antique store finds as well....
and although I don't espouse hunting... these were so old that I saw no harm in
including them in my decor.

In addition to the sitting room, there is also a guest room,
a bathroom and my sewing room on this level.

The guest room...

The old chest of drawers was a find at a local auction.

I've had this desk since I was a child.
It was originally my grandfather's.
Many hours were spent doing homework at this desk through the years!

The bathroom....
(The mirror was a find in the upstairs of the old log cabin.
We had it re-silvered so that we could use it in our home.)

When building our log home, I felt inspired to decorate it like a cabin.
The end result is quite cozy and homey...
nothing formal.
Our home is definitely lived-in and enjoyed!

That was so much fun!! It was a cozy feeling just looking! It has always been a dream of mine to have a cabin, just a little one. We have done a couple rooms in out home in pine boards to get that cozy feel.
Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely gorgeous! Love your style and the coziness it brings to your home. In my opinion, the trend of having stark white walls is just not cozy. I'll take this style over that any day.

Thank you for this post. You have a lovely knack for decorating. I'm glad I don't have to shake the dust out of those furs, though! Can't wait to see more 'home' photos!

You have so much wildlife and nature around your home. Your house is so warm and cozy, and I love the little teddy bear on the bed. My mom used to collect teddy bears, and when she passed away, we each got one of them. :)
