Happy Fall, Y'All!

Yesterday, the last of my week at home alone (Hubbs was out of town until today)... I decided I should tackle the chore of mowing by myself.  It took much of the afternoon and into the evening.  After all of the mowing mis-haps of last week, I am happy to say that I only got the mower stuck in a ditch once!  I am even happier to say that I had no wardrobe malfunctions this time. (I mowed in jeans!)

I walked back to the tractor garage to grab the tractor, only to return to find that my brother-in-law had driven by and seen my predicament and pushed the mower out of the ditch for me.   Perhaps Jack is right.  Perhaps the Universe is telling me that I should not be mowing!  The thing is... despite all of the predicaments, I love to mow.  I put on headphones and listen to books as I mow.  It's quite peaceful.

But, Autumn has arrived (at least it arrives officially at 9 PM tonight!) and mowing season is almost over for the year.  Whatever will I do with all of my time? [she says, chuckling]

As the sun was sinking low on the horizon, I headed out to clean the front pasture.

The pigs were still grazing and MaryAnn came running up to me with her usual enthusiastic greeting.  Oh how happy my heart is that she is feeling well again!

It's evident that autumn has arrived in the front pasture.  There are little pops of white autumn wildflowers all over... small white daisies

and tiny white asters.

Our predominant wildflower is goldenrod and it can be seen blooming along all of the roadsides.  I love it's vibrance as it catches the light from the rising sun!  The blossoms hum not only with the vibrant golden color, but also with the pollinators that cover them.  The bees are working extra hard right now... storing away as much honey as possible for the cold winter ahead.

I'm a little sad to say that the last of our hummingbirds are now gone.  We will miss all of the traffic and activity that we have enjoyed at our feeders these last few months... but look forward to their return next May.

I took a trip to the pumpkin patch yesterday morning and started decorating for autumn...

finding spots all over the house for little pumpkin babies.

I've still more decorating to do.... more to come!

Autumn, how I love this beautiful time of year! There is just something about it that has always drawn me. I am originally from upstate NY and maybe that is where my love for this season comes from, I don't know but I love the bright colors and cooler days.
Looking forward to wearing long skirts and boots and beautiful items knitted by friends. I am so happy MaryAnn is feeling back to her old self again. I'm sure the herd will soon be kicking up their heels in celebration of cooler days and no fly masks. Though that won't seem to affect your rebel girl I'm sure. Lol! Your decorations look lovely. I couldn't wait and had my inside decorations up already. Will be doing some on the outside today.
Don’t you just wish this in between time could last a few months?! Before we know it the trees will be naked and frost will have done its work. To be sure, if we really look, there is beauty in all the seasons….even the naked trees! But nature in her party clothes can’t be beat!! ❤️
