Why are these little monsters racing around the front pasture faster than the wind?
Because at the time of this photo (yesterday morning) it was 45 degrees! Yes, you read that right. Never, in my life have I awoken to a 45 degree morning in June! It's a weird year. I will admit, those kind of temperatures are great for a good night's sleep... and they make it a little hard to get out from under the covers in the morning.
As with all great shows... an audience is always available.
Finally, my favorite of the summer flower has blossomed.... digitalis, or Foxglove.
Such a uniquely beautiful flower - though poisonous - kept behind the security of my little, gated, cottage garden. The drug Digoxin/Lanoxin (aka: digitalis) (used to lower heart rate) is actually extracted from the leaves of this plant. Hence, why it is considered poisonous.
Yesterday morning at the pond:
"Got breakfast?"
"Thank-you!"
Things are quite quiet at the pond these days. The 81 ducks that visited during the winter must have found a summer residence, because we have not seen them in months. Don't worry... they'll return in the autumn. After all, there's nothing better than accommodations with an all-you-can-eat buffet included!
PS: Summer arrived this morning at 5:13. Today is the longest day of the year for us Northern Hemisphere residents. Happy Solstice!

Love seeing the horses run. Beautiful time of year. Hard to believe this is the longest day. Will be looking forward to fall and cooler temps when things are heating up here.
