If you are contemplating living a rural life with a farm and animals, I will warn you to always remember rainy days and Mondays. You see, there are no days off, no rain delays, no postponements due to inclement weather, etc. Nope... just like the postal workers... "Neither rain nor snow nor heat nor gloom of night..." (you get the picture!)
With shorter days, it seems like most of our chores are done in the dark. We start our mornings before the sun rises. And end our days after sunset.
Yesterday our day began in the middle of a rain storm.
It rained solidly the entire time we were out doing morning chores. Were it not for good, waterproof rain gear, we would have been soaked to the skin. As I've said before - any weather condition is bearable with the right gear - and good rain gear is an essential to farm life.
I am happy to report that all of our patients are doing well. The donkeys are back to baseline, with no complaints at the present. Chloe will have more injections in her sarcoid tumor in the future, but I am happy to say she has had no ill effects from this treatment thus far.
Griz's face is healed and his cheek hair is growing back. (Big win!)
And Moonie is doing well.
We only have to put antibiotic ointment in his eye once daily now - which is a good thing, because he has had it with this treatment. He has started throwing his head as soon as I try to open his eyelids, so we have had some serious discussions about appropriate behavior. He is just going to have to bear with the treatment, because soon we will begin chemotherapy drops in his eye.
It's essential, when working with a 1000+ pound horse, that he understand who is boss. Although he'd like it to be him... it's not!
Yesterday afternoon, while we were putting his eye ointment in, Donnie Brasco was on the other side of the stall wall stealing the peppermint treats that Hubbs had left there for Moonie. (Moonie gets a treat for holding still.). Here is the thief at work...
Happy December 1st, friends!!
All we need now is a little snow (I said a little!)

Thinking if your rain had been snow it would have been LOTS!
Happy each of your “patients” are on the “doing well” page!
