This is the time of year when I love getting out to the barn before sun-up.
It seems that almost every morning there is a spectacular show.
Some days it is brief, and others it lasts for quite some time...
colors changing...
brightness intensifying...
until moments later,
cotton candy clouds fade into grayness.
Early morning was the best part of yesterday.
Walking the horses to the upper pastures turned into a joyous
free-for-all of pounding hooves, tails raised high in the air...
bucking, rearing, prancing, dancing...
a midst whinnies and snorts...
(and farts... anyone who has ever had horses knows that farts are an integral part of
morning romps!)
It's funny how the horses know that their neighbors are present...
long before they are even close to them.
And, as they reach the pasture across from each other
a glorious display of "showing off" ensues.
Once all have pulled out every trick in their bag,
they all settle down to the task of grazing....
or rolling (for those who already had the luxury of a full night's grazing.)
Autumn mornings...
brisk,
full of possibilities,
and joy...

I spent my awaking, morning hours writing a poem:
A New Day
New morning is here, ...and let us all say,
"May this day be better than yesterday."
...May we all try our best to love one another
...and treat every stranger like a sister or brother
May we reach for what's good, keeping peace in our mind
May we sing and enjoy such warm, sweet sunshine.
May we walk out our doors with such joy in our heart..
that others will join us and not want to part....
Yes, let's praise this morning with such grateful thought,
keeping all goals forefront with what morning has brought.
Yes, a new day is here, a new day has come...
A brand new beginning for everyone.

Well, since Dee got us started on poems, here's one I wrote last fall.
Autumn
by daisy
Welcome Autumn in all your splendor
Changing leaves and crisp, cool mornings.
Coaxing us to get outside
And drink in every fresh, deep breath.
Craft fairs and football games
Invite us to venture forth
To begin new endeavors
And share good times.
The harvest table will soon be full
Of favorites old and new.
Yam casserole and baked corn pudding
Sure to please most every palate.
The scent of fall stirs thoughts of youth
Piles of leaves to pounce upon
Hot cider and buggy rides
Relishing time spent with friends.
Autumn, we greet you with open arms
And thank you for your many gifts.
Be sure to take your time and linger
So that we may savor every moment.
Enjoy this wonderful time of year!
I love watching horses romp and dash around!!
They look like they are having so much fun!!
Lovely photos of the sunrise...sigh!
I especially like the one from between the two fence lines!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful morning with us!!
