There are barely any weeks that pass that do not leave me with a heavy heart...
grieving for humanity.
I am sure that you are feeling the same way.
All one need do is turn on the news and it seems that the world has turned upside down.
It's hard to not get discouraged.
And yet I refuse to give up.
I refuse to believe that we are not capable of creating a better world.
I don't often address current events on this blog...
not because I don't care... I do, deeply.
It's just that with so much despair and heartache swirling around us...
I choose to be a voice of positivity.
I choose to believe that we are capable of greatness.
I choose to believe that there is hope for humanity.
I choose to believe that we are capable of this...
of tolerating and caring and loving each other and our differences.
I choose to offer a smile and a kind word.
I choose to keep love and hope and peace my guiding force.
The world is large, and I am but one small person.
I refuse to believe that I cannot make a difference.
I can.
You can.
Everyone can... in thought, word, and deed.
In the face of all that is wrong and crazy...
let us stand together for all that is right and good.
Let us hang on to hope.
Together... we can.

St. Therese of Lisieux stated:
“Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.”
"I think of you working in the kitchen, peeling potatoes with great love of God as your duty of the moment. Suddenly the peelings are transformed into threads of silver and gold, reaching up to heaven and glorifying God. The angels, gently and reverently, wind up these threads, weaving from them a carpet for Our Lady's feet. I see this with the eyes of my soul, and I understand that the beauty of the threads depends on the intention of your heart. You have the power not only to turn dross into gold, but to turn gold back into dross.
On what depends the beauty of the threads? Charity. Charity (love) in thought and charity (love) in speech. It also depends on understanding, patience, and lack of envy. "
To some people God gives great graces and opportunities. But you have a hidden life, a life of small things through which you can come to God in a little way, like St. Terese of Lisieux. Others may do big things, but their temptations are great, and part of their reward is often already obtained on this earth. Not so with you. If you walk your way of littleness, your reward will be great in heaven." -Catherine Doherty
I'm trying to focus on the stories coming out of the carnage of strangers helping strangers, the heroics of the first responders, and the doctors and nurses at the hospitals.
I'm glad, too, that I have this blog to see every morning.
