The Emergence... Captured!

Thanks to Hubbs' ingenuity I finally got some great pictures of the Runner Ducks...
and...
they were out of the barn!!

He put the game camera on a post outside the barn...

catching great candid photos of our daffy girls.
There was a blog comment a few weeks ago saying that they look as though
they have their  hands in their pockets.
Now, whenever I look at them, that makes me laugh!

And, by the way, these three girls (and I had thought one was a boy!)
are laying three eggs almost daily!

They are getting much less shy around us now,
no longer scampering back into their stalls at the sight of us.
Eventually they will learn that their world is not a scary one.

You might notice all of the duck poop in the aisle of the barn.
Thanks to these messy girls, I have to hose out the aisle a few times each day!

Friday was Tyler's last day with us, and finally the sun shone.
He was so proud of himself...
(picture, compliment of same game camera!)

leading Red the whole way from the upper most pastures back to the barn.
Oh my... they grow up way too fast!

Saturday took us to a winery about an hour north of us for the wedding of a dear friend.
It was a beautiful day and a beautiful venue.

I just had to show you these flower girls... adorable!

The happy Mr. and Mrs...

Sunday was perfection in a day.

Beautiful blue skies, cool breezes and plentiful sunshine made it spectacular
from sun-up to sun-down!

After doing a lot of research, we have decided that surgery is the best way to fix
poor Sammie's torn cruciate ligament.
He continues to be three-legged... opting for rides everywhere he goes.

And once arriving at his destination, he finds a cool spot and parks himself
until he hears the sound of the gator once again.

His injury didn't stop him, yesterday morning, from chasing the ponies across the front pasture...
on three legs!
He will, most likely, have to be on a leash for several weeks after surgery...
only allowed out of the house for potty breaks.
Sammie lives for adventure...he is going to be one unhappy boy.

Love the pictures of those gorgeous duck girls. They do seem to be coming out of their shells now and are starting to enjoy farm life. Poor Sammie, hope his operation goes well and although he will not like being a patient, I think it's that old saying (where animals are concerned) "you have to be cruel to be kind".

A beautiful day indeed! Just look at that sky!

Glad you got to see your elusive girls strutting their stuff. Eggs! What in the world will you do with them? That's a lot of omelets!

Praying that Sammie's surgery goes well. So nice to have a vet in the family, huh?

Ha ha, those ducks DO look like they're slouching around with their hands in their pockets! Kudos to the perceptive person who first noticed and articulated that!
