Perfection In a Day

This truly is the best time on the farm.
We wait all winter in anticipation of spring's return...
longing for the bright green colors that energize us.

Spring doesn't disappoint.

We had a lovely weekend.
We spent most of the weekend at home

just enjoying our surroundings.

I spent some considerable time lying in the front pasture as everyone grazed around me.

The sky was so blue with puffy clouds that passed by on a soft breeze.

Everyone seemed quite content...
happily munching to the sound of joyful birdsong.

There are some days like this...

perfect in every way...

the kind of day you place into a mental snapshot
so that you can pull it out and wrap yourself in it mid-winter.

Somehow, though, we never quite remember it with the same vibrance as we experience at the time.

I hope that we get to choose how our afterlife looks...
because this is what I would choose.
This day...
this moment of incredible earthly perfection!

Look who came for a visit...

Not just one...

but, two!
Too cute... but too smelly!

These two baby skunks were passing through our front yard yesterday.
Needless to say, the dogs were placed on house arrest!

Perfection Spring Days are the best . . .
(Forget "strolling through" skunk though!)

Keep the skunk kit handy!
There's always a skunk in paradise, isn't there? That's just how life works! Glad the dogs were safe.

Oh those baby skunks are sooo cute--I just wished they didn't have such a 'loud' smell when they threatened!!!!

We don't normally get a solid spring in Northern California. But this year feels pretty darn close to it. Some days are in the 90's then some days are in the low 80's. Not too shabby. If I saw skunks that close to me, I think I would go into complete panic mode. They only spray when they are afraid, yes? They seem so cute in these photos.
