Rainy Day Projects

I took full advantage of yesterday's rainy morning
and worked on some projects that have been floating around my brain.

Of course I had plenty of help...

because, what project is ever complete without at least one kitty monopolizing
the workspace!

Every year I try to find different plant markers for my garden.
This year I decided to make these...

I had lots of bamboo from Dr. Becky's bamboo grove.
The plant names are stenciled on wooden shims.
The shims are lashed onto the bamboo with jute.
(which you can buy in a package, cheap, from any lumber yard)
(you could use paint sticks if you had lots of them as well)

I made enough yesterday to place where I had already planted seeds.
Sugar Peas....

(By the way, I will be planting carrots, beets and radishes behind the green trellis fencing,
as sugar peas do well when planted with these root veggies.)

Several varieties of onions and lettuce....

Another box has radishes that were planted as well.
I'll be making more markers as I plant more seeds in the coming weeks.
Of course, everyone was curious as to what I was doing.

By the time I stuck the finished markers in the ground,
the rain began again.

We are to have a fair amount of rain this week.
Sadly, that will delay gardening and sheep shearing.
Not a problem... there are plenty of other projects to work on instead.

I also was able to finish March's Loops Club project.
The dark blue stripes in this are silk with tiny seeds and sequins in it.
The light blue is cashmere and merino.

It will be the perfect light wrap for Spring.

  1. Love the plant labels - you have inspired me ... yet again.

  2. Sharp looking plant markers and the wrap is gorgeous!

  3. Look at your garden! Loving your new plant markers. I can't wait to see Minerva's make over. I'm still playing TX so my garden is still on hold. Enjoy the rain as it give a good start to the garden!

  4. I want boxes like that in my small garden. Love the wrap. It will be fun and beautiful to wear.

Isn't this the best time of the year?

  6. I like a mind that makes things happen . . .
and you are of that mind!

    Wow, you are so productive!!

I work with paper and computers all day, so it's hard to see what I accomplished after a hard day's work! It's nice that you can see the fruits of your labor!

It's finally starting to warm up here, so I think my weekend free time will be used for putting away all my winter clothes and bedding! Yay!

We welcome your questions and comments. Questions very often become the subject of a later blog keep those questions coming!! I read each and every comment...they are often the highlight of my day! Thanks for stopping by and visiting with us.....
