Wait, What Month Is This?

I fear I may have overslept...
by about a month.
Seriously, I went to sleep on Sunday night and woke up in Spring!

Temperatures are incredibly warm right now...
downright unseasonable.
I'm not complaining because this weather has given me the opportunity to get a head
start on Spring clean-up chores.

Yesterday was another sunny beautiful day...
and I took full advantage of it.
Dressed in just a sweatshirt and jeans, I worked on the gardens...
cleaning up last year's dead growth on the perennials
and giving the grape vine a major haircut (think crewcut).
It is now half the size it was (growing in the corner of the garden onto the fence).

I have learned over the years that the vines stay healthier and produce more grapes
if they are pruned yearly.
I always do my pruning chores late in winter while plants are dormant.

Tell me... is there anything more delicious than a nap in the warm sun?

Oh, how I wish I could have joined the rest of the farm.

It seems that everyone had the same idea.

Everyone...

except, of course, me and the turkeys!

In answer to a question in yesterday's comments...
yes, Tom lets me touch him.
I raised him from a just hatched chick, so he bonded with me from the beginning.
Fred? ... he steers clear of me...close, but not close enough to touch.
And Ethel? ... she hisses and pecks me these days...because I keep stealing her eggs.
I won't let her hatch her eggs because of the two males that are housed with her.
Perhaps I will incubate a few at a later time when the weather is warmer.
And by the way.... turkey eggs are delicious!!

Hubbs gave me these work gloves for Christmas.
I've got to tell you... if you need work gloves... these are the best I have ever had.
They give all the right protection in all the right places.
And although they are a little pricey... if you go through as many gloves as I do...
you will appreciate a good pair with lasting quality!

And here is the progress of the cowl...
almost finished.

It seems so strange to see pictures of your farm with no snow in February! So glad that you are able to get ahead on some of your chores.
Oh my goodness, that cowl is adorable! You are so talented.

Thank you for your daily posts. There are times when it is just what I need to keep me going and I do appreciate you taking the time to write about your days.
Continued blessings...

It is -4 here this morning (-15 with wind chill) and another snowstorm coming tonight!!!! My husband says he thinks we better move to PA 😀
I would really enjoy being out doing spring garden clean up.
The cowl is coming along nicely.

The cowl is so beautiful! One day I am going to learn how to knit... So, you've inspired me to get outside and start the pruning today. Thanks!!

Everyone seems to be enjoying the Spring like weather you are having at the moment. I can't wait to get out in the garden and start tidying up. Love the photo's (as usual), especially of the turkeys. What a shame Ethel hisses at you - I think she is so beautiful. Turkey Poults sounds like a great idea. It would be so interesting to raise some.

I was tempted to do my perennials but I think I'll wait until it's really Spring..I don't have that many so I will have time to take my time..Pruning is done..I'll wait to remove the dead stuff...Love the cowl..ENjoy this rainy day ;) Clearly, Ethel is ready for motherhood...

I'm pretty certain that you do not sleep!!! Love your cowl so much. I can close my eyes and inhale your sweet donkeys - how I love the scents of the farm! I wanted to lie under the sun too - in the barnyard and doze. Thank you!
