That Turkey Thing

Yesterday morning as the sun rose, I was watching the turkeys doing their usual
"turkey thing".
Tom and Fred and Ethel are a tight group now....
a flock of a different color, for sure!

Occasionally they will have a minor disagreement, but for the most part
all seem to get along fine.
Tom and Fred spend their days trying to impress Ethel...
in vain, perhaps.

She leads them on...just enough to keep them both interested.

However, should one get a little too aggressive...
she grabs him by his snood and puts him right back in his place!

While the turkeys were showing their finery,
Daisy was playing with the big dogs.

It's amazing how she holds her own now...
and has even, in true "Aussie" form, found her inner bossiness!

Occasionally my brother-in-law, Daisy's Dad, and Dr. Becky's Hubby,
shares photos that he takes during his day.

Daisy's Dad is a UPS driver spending his day doing home delivery in our neck of the woods.
He has a keen eye for capturing the beauty of nature
as well as some of its oddities.
His photos are worthy of sharing, so from time to time I will do just that.
All of his photos are taken on or near the farm.
Enjoy!

What a rack!  This is a whitetail deer raised in captivity.

He saw this snake swallowing a whole toad in his driveway.

"The better to see you with, my dear!"

We do have a lot of lovely covered bridges in our area!

PS... I got a request for my banana nut muffin recipe....

Here is my original go-to recipe with the changes to make it healthier:

2 ripe bananas (I used 3) mashed
½ cup butter
1 ½ c. flour (I used 1 c. whole wheat and ½ c. white)
¾ c. sugar (I used ¼ cup agave nectar)
2 eggs (I used ex-large)
¼ c. milk
½ c. chopped walnuts (I used 1 cup)
½ t. salt
1 t. baking soda
2 tsp. lemon juice

Mix above ingredients and divide into 18 muffin tins.
Bake at 350 degrees till golden brown @20 minutes.
 (test with toothpick for done-ness.)

Hi - catching up on some of the posts I have missed over time. Love your blog so keep up the good work. I really enjoy all of your photos. We live in Michigan with a variety of animals like you and I am wondering how you prepare for winter in the barn. With so many different sizes of animals the logistics of water buckets sizes and heaters can be overwhelming. Thanks!
