Weekending

I'll start my blog post today with a short story.
Sadly, I have no pictures from the time that this happened,
however I can set the scene with a few taken the next day.

It was Friday evening, late.
It was as dark as dark could be (hence no photos at that time.)
Hubbs and I had gone out on a date... dinner and a movie.
Upon returning home, we had to go out to do the "tuck-in" chores.

The pigs had been out in the front pasture grazing for the evening and were now back in their house.
The gate to the front pasture was open, however, and so I had to go into their yard
to close that gate.
I repeat... it was as dark as dark could be...no moonlight, no flashlight!

Upon opening the gate into the pig yard from the lane,

I took a miss step and ended up tripping over the pig pool
(now filled with rather chilly, filthy water.)
Before I knew it, I was sitting fully clothed in 6 inches of pig pool water....
soaked from the waist down.
We laughed our heads off!

Needless to say, the pig pool has been moved to a more "out-of-the-way" location.

What started out to be a rather quiet weekend ended up jam packed with fun.
Saturday was filled with errands and farm chores.
We picked more grapes and I canned more grape juice.

Sunday we put our bikes on the bike rack and headed to a local "Rails to Trails" bike trail.
We rode 15 miles...

through beautiful Pennsylvania farm country.

This is my kind of exercise... seeing the sights as we pedaled along.

with our destination being our favorite local brewery.

This is the Rusty Rail, located in Mifflinburg, PA.
If you are a central Pa resident, you must make this place a destination.

It is amazing!  Truly!
It sits alongside a 9 mile Rail trail...
making for a great day of hiking or biking, followed by great food and great beer.

Saturday night we took a moonlight hike deep into our woods
where Dr. Becky and her hubby and kids were having a camp out at our platform tent in the woods.

We joined them for S'mores around the campfire, before heading home to bed.

Sunday we spent with family.
There is nothing better than time with Tyler and Mackenzie!!

So sorry about the excess camera noise on the video.
This is not the best camera for video, but was all I had.

Oh my! What a rude awakening! Maybe you should keep an old mailbox out there that you can keep stuff like flashlights and tools in. ;0D
Sounds like a fun-filled weekend, nonetheless.

What a site you must have been . . .
Fun to laugh at ourselves sometimes though . . .
Sounds like a perfect weekend . . .
A bit of work and some play . . .
A weekend full of fun . . . and misadventures! I hope the pigs weren't mad that you used their pool.
