It's May!

It was an indoors kind of weekend.
Rain, rain, rain.
It seems our April showers have extended into May!

By Sunday afternoon things were quite soggy.
The rain had slowed down to just a mist,
so we ventured out to tend to the animals.

The goats came out for the first time in days.

We had to empty an inch of rain from their bowls in order to feed them.

In spite of the dreary conditions outside,
we had a perfectly wonderful weekend with our kids and grandkids.
Everyone stayed over and joined in Sunday Farm Breakfast.

Tyler, soon 6...
discovered that fruit is even better with fresh made whipped cream!

Mackenzie, 8 months...
who has decided that she wants nothing to do with baby food.

And despite the fact that she has nary a tooth in her mouth,
she insists upon feeding herself...
whatever it is that everyone else is eating.
We cut everything into small bits for her and she shovels it in by the fistful.
Precious!

I spent a little time in the sewing room on Sunday.
I have had so many ideas whirling around in my mind,
and I finally had a little time to work on them.
Lots of linen, homespun and laces being worked together....
and a little tea-staining as well.
Pictures later this week...

I am so glad Monday is here.

I love weekends, but there is so much peace in the ebb and flow of daily life.

I love the rhythm of each and every day.

We might even see a little sunshine sometime this week!

The garden is calling my name.
So, as soon as it dries.... I will be elbow deep in soil!!!
Those veggies that I planted a few weeks ago are loving this rainfall.
And of course, so are the weeds.
I am taking a different stand on weeds this year.
Trying to have a weed-free garden is no longer my goal.
Détente may be much more manageable!

What a blessing the rain is. We could sure use some here in Central Florida!
That looks like a fun way to spend the weekend, with a sleepover.
Enjoy your week!

Good Morning!
You probably already know this, but if you will place a layer of newspaper (blank and white print - not the glossy ads - or cardboard if you do not want the small amount of ink residue) over your dirt, and right up to your seedlings, and then cover that with a light layer of mulch, you will not have many weeds at all. I have a large garden and that is the only thing that keeps me from losing my mind as the garden matures. Hope you have a lovely week!

Looks like a fun weekend in spite of the rain. Good shot of the guineas. I tried to get that very shot when I was leaving but they flew away. Must've been the car. Nice to see that Tyler's tastes are expanding. He should take a lesson from MacKenzie. Enjoy the rain! It's going to take a while for this to dry out. Xxxxooo
Enjoy the peace and quiet of your daily routine!
