The First Snow Comes Late

We awoke yesterday morning to the first snowfall of this winter.

It's late this year.
Usually by this time we have had snow on the ground for weeks.
I am not complaining...we've had a mild winter...
and mild winters are much easier for farm chores.

Still, it's nice to see a little of the white stuff...
and a little is about all there is to see this time.
A dusting, but one that didn't melt throughout the cold of the following day,
is all for now.

It's been very cold in the early mornings, so we all wear winter coats as we head out
to feed and water all of the animals.

I love these dog coats by Weatherbeeta.
They offer wind protection and have a quilted lining for warmth.
With three thin, short-haired dogs,
a little extra warmth is needed for a couple hours of morning work!

Doesn't Oakley look handsome in his "smoking jacket"?
He is, after all, "the most interesting dog in the world!"
"Stay thirsty, my friends!"

We took a little trip down to the creek earlier this week to place our game cameras.

The cameras in the woods have yielded this...

and this...

and this...

and many more just like them over the past couple of months.

It's time for a change.
In the past we've caught some interesting species down by the water,
so here goes....we'll see what we see in a couple of weeks.
Maybe we'll take a sneak peak this weekend.

Regardless of the results,
the dogs always enjoy the walks...

and the game cameras have been so much fun...
like opening a present every week!

Hopefully we'll have something fun to share with you as well!

Hi Beverly,
I can't tell you how much I enjoy your cameras in the woods.. It is like seeing a secret world.
The snow looks so beautiful, and I love the coats for the dogs.
Enjoy your weekend
fondly,
