A Very Merry Celebration

I know that I said I would be back yesterday....
but...
I needed a day to catch up with farm chores, laundry and errands
once our weekend guests departed on Monday.

We had a wonderful family celebration this past weekend...
a four generation celebration.
I count my blessings each and every day... ever thankful that I have such a big,
loving, fun-filled family that spans four generations (we had 16 adults, 4 children and 5 dogs).

Our huge dining room table has gradually become too small,
(with 16 adults around the table)...
and so this year we added a "kids" table.

Our menu included some family favorites (not the traditional Christmas meal, however)...
buttermilk fried chicken (the absolute best ever...we only eat it once a year!)
lasagne, all sorts of roasted vegetable sides, fruit salads, twice-baked stuffed potatoes,
with cookies, cheesecake, whiskey cake, and nut roll for dessert.

The day was filled with conversation,

 food,

fun

and games (we are a family who loves to play!),

(some absolutely amazing feats of athleticism were witnessed!)

There were quiet moments as well.

Miss Mackenzie was a bit under the weather with a cold.

Tyler was in his glory challenging and beating the adults in Wii games.

There were enough cameras to catch the important moments...
(Thanks Missy... I stole a few of your photos!)

By the end of the day we were stuffed and exhausted...
but all in agreement that it was the best Christmas celebration to date!

While we were partying inside,
the animals were outside making final preparations for their own party.
They spent quite a bit of time trying to decide upon what to wear...
and lots of animal laughter ensued...

To be continued.....
