Things To Do On A Hot Summer Day

It seems that most of the country is experiencing a heat wave this week.
And we are no exception...
however, we are luckier than some.
Our high temps are just in the low nineties...it could be much worse.

But still, for animals that are used to temps in the 80's and even 70's
a hot day can take its toll.

The horses, after spending a cool night out in the pasture...

spend their daytime napping in the shade of the run-in.

Ginger and MaryAnn take turns cooling off in the pool.

Just sitting there soaking in the water seems to be enough to keep these gals happy
on hot afternoons.

And from the looks of this water (muddy), I'd say they've used it quite a bit
on this particular afternoon.

Their pool gets scrubbed out and re-filled daily, of course.

The donkeys never seem to mind the heat, and rather than stand in the shade...
seem to prefer being in the sun.

Yesterday afternoon, they treated Annie to her favorite game...
although on cooler days everyone runs a little faster and farther.
But still...the game went on....

all i have to say about this weather is that it is good for house painting. other than that, i am way over summer! however, it is pouring here right now!!! real rain and it's wet!!! and thunder and lightening. i never thought i would see it again.

What a great video soundtrack for a less than enthusiastic game of tag. Well done! Way too hot to be running around. The piggies are the smart ones. Nice that they have a pool. Enjoy your day. Stay cool.

It was hot this last weekend, but yesterday some much needed rain moved in. It POURED several times and I know at least the garden/yard is happy. More rain in the forecast for the rest of the week and I think I'll take it... As if I had a choice anyway, right? ;-)

I think it's so funny that your pigs are called Ginger and MaryAnn!

My mini donks eat in the the blazing heat, come get a long drink mid-day and then sleep the afternoon away under one of my large oak trees. We're slated for rain for the first time in 7 weeks. We'll see if it happens.

LOL...love the video..bored and I may as well bug you both. Love it.! Our horses are inside with the fans on them. With 3 senior horses it is just as easy to bring them all in. Are the flys bad at your place. They are driving ours crazy. All of them just love coming inside for the day. It is more work..but heck we are not busy anyway..lol. Keep cool Bev sure hope it cools down a little soon.

It just occurred to me that Charles and Amy High, over at Seven Stars Dairy, have peacocks. Bet that's where Vivian's visitor came from.
