We are in the midst of a high pressure area, and the weather is spectacular.
We've entered the dry part of summer and everyone is finally making hay.
(Which is a big relief to me as I have so many mouths to feed!)
It had been sunny and hot every day of Tyler's week at Grammie's.
We celebrated our week with a Friday adventure...
On the way home I thanked Tyler for sharing such a fun day with me.
His answer: "I'd do anything to make you happy, Grammie, cause I love you."
Once again my heart melted. (a daily occurrence this past week)
Saturday morning was filled with farm chores and errands.
We took delivery of a large wagon load of hay,
and of course I had help.
Wow, he moved a few of those bales end-over-end to me at the back of the wagon
so that I could load them onto the conveyor.
By the time Sunday rolled around, I was ready for a much needed day of rest!
(I swear he talked a hole right through my brain.
This five year old is definitely ready for school...
the question is... are they ready for him!)
We spent some time in the pool Sunday.
Ahhhhh, how wonderful!
Because the weather was so perfect...not too hot, breezy, sunny....beautiful,
we left the horses out in the front pasture for a bit longer than usual.
By the time we called for them, they came running...
eager for their supper.
I stopped for a visit with Ginger and MaryAnn and cleaned up pig poop in their yard...
a weekly chore.
MaryAnn's hooves were trimmed...
as she lay there letting me rub her belly.
Ginger was uninterested.
I will trim her hooves tonight when Amanda is here to help me.
Amanda is definitely Ginger's person, so she is more inclined to do as Amanda asks.
Whereas MaryAnn is putty in my hands.
Today is to be the hottest day of the week (90's)...
however, the rest of the week is to cool of and end up in the 70's.
The sheep will be grateful for that!
It'll be great to have a week of pleasant weather as I have much work to catch up with.
The garden is bursting right now...
I will be making and freezing spaghetti sauce for winter,
as well as making hot pepper relish.
Peaches are in...so a pie will be baked.
Then the rest will be frozen for pies throughout the year.
I cut the corn off of 3 dozen ears yesterday and froze that as well.
This is the time of year that I patiently wait for...
when all of my springtime work pays off and the garden bursts with daily offerings.
It's definitely a great way to reduce grocery bills throughout the year.
And so, I'll leave you with a little bit of farm humor.
Yesterday, as we drove the gator down to the duck pond to feed ducks and fish,
Hubbs said, "Look! A traffic jam!"

Tyler's stay with Grammie ended on Saturday afternoon.
There were tears when it was time to leave, and promises that many more fun days
were in our future.

Our guineas were walking down the road...
and that's about as much traffic as we ever get around here!
PS...
Annie is doing just fine after her Thursday evening mishap.
Her stitches itch her a little, but they will dissolve in the next couple of weeks.
Amazingly, she still keeps getting balls and asking to play fetch!
(We've curtailed that until her nose is healed.)

Looks like quite an adventure-not sure who enjoyed the visit more!
Your veggies look scrumptious! I hope you'll do a feature on the garden this week. So envious! ;0D
