Slowing Down, Now Full Speed Ahead!

You may notice that some of today's pictures don't actually go with today's story.
That's the way we roll this week.
It's a little busy around here....but just for now.

We actually did slow down (just a little) this weekend.
The normal farm chores were done.

216 half-pint wide-mouth mason jars were washed and readied to serve salads.
Trees were trimmed.
The grape arbor (which will be turned into a bar) was pruned and weeded.
The guest house was cleaned and readied for guests and bridal party preparations.
A little last minute shopping was done.
Maps of the farm were drawn.
Slide shows were created.

All sorts of last minute minutiae was finished.
And then we kicked back a little....ate out and relaxed.

It's the bride-to-be and groom-to-be's last 5 days of being single.
They are spending that time here on the farm helping us with final preparations.

In five days there will be 196 guests...
62 of whom will be camping for the weekend.

On the day of the wedding there will be 2 meals and an evening snack served,
music, dancing, yard games, old fashioned family tug-of-war, egg toss, kettle corn,
horse-drawn wagon rides, and a wandering magician to entertain anyone that is not busy.
This will be the wagon that brings the bride and her gals from the house to the ceremony...

then later will offer guests a ride into the woods.

We will spend this week getting the grounds ready
and then decorating and getting set up.
The weather prediction at this point is a 60% chance of rain (thunderstorms)
for Saturday....
but we will not let that get us down.
No... we can handle whatever happens...
plan B involves the indoor riding arena.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that most of the day is beautiful, however.
You can cross yours as well...any little bit helps!

We've had tons of rain in the past week...we seem to be having a huge shower
(1 inch or more each shower) almost every other day.
The flowers are looking a little wilty...

but with just a little sun they will perk back up to show their sunny faces.

I will keep blogging this week, but I cannot guarantee than my posts will make much sense.
Hang in there with me....
it's gonna be a wild ride!!

Ooooh, so exciting! Rain on a wedding day is supposed to be good luck. We'll pray for just enough sun for the ceremony. Hope you are taking time to enjoy all of it!

Hope everything goes off without a hitch! The two most fun weddings I ever attended were held at the bride's parent's homes. When my niece got married I had to laugh at my brother. He said everybody else's to do list were things like clean the house and plant the flowers. His was paint the freakin' house!

Oh so very exciting. Sure wish I could be a little mouse in a corner watching all the fun. Hope you get at least enough sun for the ceremony to be outdoors. It will be a great day no matter what. I'm amazed at your organization skills. Wow. I'm excited for you all! Can't wait to read all about it and see it too! Thanks Bev!
