Balance

Cats have a sense of balance that is unmatched by any.
They can perch themselves on just about anything,
and sit there as though it is effortless.

Yesterday morning Bobby sat on the stall door while the horses ate their breakfast.

You'd never have known by watching him that he was perched upon a door
that is about 1 ½ inches wide.

He sat there...perfectly still and surveyed the world around him.

The cats are utterly fearless around the horses and scurry about the dry lot
completely oblivious to the 300, 500, and 1200 pound animals that inhabit it.

They often walk the perimeter of the pasture fence...
walking on top of the wooden fence as if it were a tightrope.
Never once have I seen them fall.

I wanted to update you on our bourbon red turkey, Tom.
You might remember that he survived a dog attack about two weeks ago that left
his back featherless with minor lacerations.

He has healed nicely and is starting to grow back his feathers.

Here he is with the turkey equivalent of a 5-o'clock-shadow!

I can scarcely believe that it's Friday again.
These weeks pass way too quickly!
We will be spending a quiet weekend at home...
working in the garden if the weather cooperates.

What about you?  Planning any mischief this weekend?

Wow! That is amazing! I've never been close enough to a turkey to see the feathers growing back. So glad he is on the mend.
We are trying to finish painting our house and I've got to make my soil mix too. Enjoy your weekend!

Poor Tom . . . happy his feathers are starting to regrow.
I have strong hope that a rake might be in my hands for the weekend!
I think it will have to be held inbetween the predicted snowstorm.

OMGosh that 5 o'clock shadow is amazing...I have never seen anything like it. Fast healing. Cats really are amazing. I have Maxwell this weekend and we enjoyed a beautiful sunny warm day outside yesterday...today, rain and wind! Have a good one.
Hi Bev,
First, I am so glad that poor Tom is doing better. Your cats are really beautiful, and quite amazing.
This morning I planted some Blue star creepers.. Little did I know that this evening a little rabbit would PULL each one out and toss it. I found them everywhere! He took off as soon as I opened the front door..
Ok, so I plugged them back in.. Will be interesting to see if they are there in the morning.
Wishing you a beautiful Sunday.
blessings,
Penny

This weekend was spent wandering my property taking pictures of all things green. We have been without that color for nearly 7 Springs now. We've gotten a wee bit more rain this year thanks to El Nino. I'd forgotten that it CAN be beautiful here. Spring is by far my favorite season of the year. Renewal. Digging in the earth.
I missed the story about your Tom being attacked. I'll have to backtrack.
Lots of chores this weekend, but none worth mentioning.
