Snow Day!

Yesterday I said that there is no such thing as a "snow day" in my life anymore.
Well, as luck would have it...
yesterday was Wednesday...my usual day off from farm work...
(thanks to our friends Jim and Kathy who take over for me on Wednesdays)
and it snowed most of the day.

So, a snow day is exactly what I had!!

Instead of going out and working in the snow, I got to stay indoors and play.
Sewing, knitting, cooking... were the activities of the day.
Homemade quiche for dinner...

The dogs and I took an afternoon break and went out for a romp in the snow.

Here is a glimpse of my world right now....

Bird's eye view of the snowy world....

As the snow fell outside, I stayed warm and toasty in my sewing room.
I sewed three of these....

and two of these....

Today I will deliver them to my favorite coffee shop/restaurant for their wait staff...
and give my sewing machine a much needed rest!

The snow makes your farm look so pretty and pristine. All the that white and gray really makes everything else pop. I love the aprons and I'm sure the coffee shop staff will too! Stay warm!

What a lovely sight that snow is-especially from inside your cozy home, I'm sure! ;o) Your shed makes the snow somehow look less intimidating. So adorable. Oh, those turkeys don't look too happy! Your aprons are gorgeous! You certainly were productive. I hope someday to be able to finish one apron in a month's time (I'm just teaching myself to hand sew). So glad you enjoyed your "day off".

What beautiful pictures of your farm. I just love seeing the precious animals in the snow too. Thanks so much for sharing. The Quiche looks amazing and the aprons are so pretty too!

I love your dinner bell and shelters over the swing and picnic table. More ideas for yard. The aprons are beautiful and more inspiration. I've had the patterns for years and done nothing with them. That too will soon pass!!! Have a great day and stay warm.

It was a stroke of luck. I wanted the Espresso on the middle of the pocket...and it just so happened to line up perfectly! I really can't take all of the credit....chalk it up to luck!

Yes, and today I get to enjoy another day of winter wonderland through the windows!!!

It is actually flurrying here today, also.

I agree....nothing like a blanket of white to cover up all of winter's drabness!!

Loved your SNOWXDAY!
Bev,
Your world is one of white beauty! I love the swing, don't know if I would want to sit on it right now, but it looks so lovely.
Your aprons are gorgeous!

I love your views from inside your home. It always looks so peaceful & quiet when there is a new blanket of snow. As a kid I always loved looking out my bedroom window at all the fresh fallen snow. The moonlight illuminated the sparkling snow & turned the night time into a spectacular landscape where the shadows of bare winter branches cast elongated shadows stretched across the snow.

Your aprons came out fabulous as they always do.The fabrics you used. The wait staff at your coffee shop is going to look & feel happy every time they put their aprons on.and they will put a smile on customers faces too!

And what a pristine SNOW day it is! We had a muddy, wet RAIN day instead. Quiche is perfect for such a day. These aprons are charming and I'm keeping my eye on that page; waiting for just the right fabric to match my newly re-done kitchen. What COOL hats you have knitted! ( and such a pretty model, is she your daughter?)
I'm curious about the heat lamp for your turkeys, Is that a fairly small space it is heating? My poor roosters had some frost bite on their combs, but our barn is huge and i wonder if a heat lamp would do any good at all.

Jeri... I use sheds for my chicken houses as well as one for the turkeys. A heat lamp does a great job of keeping those sheds warm during the winter. I open the doors fully only on warmer days....and have built tiny doors at the bottom of the shed for colder days....preserving what heat is inside. But still....I have roosters who insist in going out in all weather and suffer some frost bite. Vaseline on their combs helps prevent this (if you can catch your roosters!!) If you ever want me to make an apron especially for you...just let me know what color, pattern, etc you are interested in. I can whip one up in a morning.

Sounds good. Suppose I sent you some of my own fabric? I have some from my first book and I would love to have it made into an apron. I sew, but have never made and apron and I am not about to try.
