Pass The Salt, Please!

Saturday brought the first hard frost of the season,
finishing off many of the plants in and around the garden.

Kale, chard, and collards are all that remain...

We had our first fires of the season this weekend.

It felt wonderful to sit and knit in their warmth!

Sunday warmed up a bit and we spent a bit of time outside with the animals.

Me:  "Moonbeam... leave the pigs' hay alone!"

MB:  "Who, me?"

So that he doesn't break down that top rail, I closed the door and locked it.

"A guy could starve around here"...
that from a (chubby) guy who just came in from 8 hours of grazing!

I keep a salt lick in the barn for the horses.

Every afternoon, after eating his pelleted supplement,
Moonbeam spends about 3 solid minutes licking the salt lick.

Dessert?
It's quite a phenomenon.
I'll share the abridged edition....

On and on and on....you get the picture!

Me?  I prefer this instead!!

Blueberry-peach pie from this past summer's organic peaches and frozen blueberries from
this summer's huge harvest.
Yumm!!!!

Moonbeam, do you ever get a sore tongue? Knitting in front of the fire...how cozy is that!! And the pie looks delish, wish I could make a nice scalloped edge on my pies..never comes out looking like I want so sometimes I just fork press the edges.

Colleen, It has taken me most of my life to figure out how to systematically make a perfect pie crust each time. I will share my secrets. If I can do it, anyone can do it!

They don't seem to...and they all do it. They wear down a salt lick in a few weeks.
