Praying For A Happy Ending

There is nothing I would like more in the world
than to be able to tell you a joyful tale of a puppy rescued and
the family that lived happily ever after.

Actually, before yesterday, that tale was true.
What I have come to realize is that our dog family right now is perfect.

Now, let's fast forward through yesterday.
Fast forwarding would be great, because as days go, yesterday was tough.

We met sweet Rosie yesterday, and she seemed like the physical reincarnation of Maddie...
Rosie walked like her, drooled like her, looked like her....
but that's where the similarities end.

With tears of remembrance and a few tears of sadness,
I made the wise decision to pass on Rosie.

Rosie's story is a sad one, for sure.
Although right now she is being fostered in a good home with lots of love.
Rosie needs a whole lot of work...
no, I mean a WHOLE lot of work....
the kind of work that someone with no other dogs should attempt.

My fear, if we adopted Rosie, would be that I would need to spend so much time
training and getting her to bond with me...
to the detriment of my already near-perfect three dogs.

Sadly, Rosie was seized with 86 other animals from a hoarder.
Dehydrated, malnourished, she was almost left for dead.
She has bounced around from foster home to foster home...
spending the cold of February and March outside...
before her current rescue found her.
She has been adopted and returned.
So in her six months she has not bonded with a human...
leaving her in need of a whole lot of care and patience and time.

If I had no other dogs, I would jump at a chance to turn her life around...
but with the three that I have...
in all conscience, I cannot do that to them.

So, I am sorry...but a tough decision was made.
I am not happy about it...
but I have more peace than I did when considering keeping her.
The closer it came time to make the adoption decision,
the more panic I started to feel.

I have to go with my gut on this one.
And yet...I feel awful.
For Rosie....
and the thousands of dogs like her in this world.
But that's a whole other tale.

The timing could not be worse, either...
Annie was just spayed yesterday and will need a little extra attention in the next few days.

Thanks for listening...
I'll be back on Monday with more Tails from the Farm...
I promise they will be Happy Tails!!!

I understand why you feel so torn and sad, but you have made the responsible decision.

Going with your gut is always the right decision. I'm sure that God has a home all picked out for Rosie. You did the best thing possible in letting her go. Hope Annie has a quick recovery. Enjoy your weekend!

So sorry about Rosie but when you know in your heart of hearts that it isn't right you need to follow your instinct. I know how hard this must of been for you. Will be saying a special prayer that Rosie finds just the right home.

I am sure it was a very hard decision but you have to what is right for your family and your babies now still need your attention and it sounds like Rosie needs a family where she would be the only animal. You have a wonderful heart for all creatures, you did what was best-marsha@tubbslanefarm.com

So sorry for Rosie, I hope someone comes along who can turn her life around. That being said, you certainly do have an obligation to your current family of dogs to maintain their current life standard. Bringing Rosie into that would upset things too much. Rosie would also find it hard to bond to people with other dogs around and should probably go into a home with no other dogs for at least a while. You are a very wise and considerate doggie mom and I for one, am very impressed with the tough decision you made.

You made the right decision. As hard as it is to accept, and as much as we many want to, we can't save them all. Rest easy, knowing that you have more than done your part to give a happy, loving home to so many.

Have a great weekend.

Wise decision for you . . . difficult yes . . . sometimes it is just simply,
"Gotta do what I gotta do!"
I hope the foster home can continue to bring about the best for "Maddie look alike!"

Without previously knowing Rosie's circumstances, other then she was with a foster, it was easy for us readers to say: Take her! Adopt her! But knowing more of the details of her short existence, personally, I believe you made the right choice to not take her on. Good for you and your little herd!! Someone will take on Rosie who has all the time they need to bond with her and she will be their girl forever!!
only your heart knows what your heart knows.......you made a decision for you and those of your heart and it was a brave and true one

I think your decision was the right decision. Sometimes it is a harder choice to make the right choice! I think that you did the RIGHT thing for Rosie. By passing on her, you are opening her up to finding, like you said, someone with no other dogs who can devote the time needed to help her in life. Also, you have Annie, who is still a youngster herself. Right choice. Remember, that it is ok, because sometimes the right choice hurts even though it is right and all will be well!

I know exactly what you mean. I have such a hard time saying no to animals that need a loving home. But it is so important to take care of the animals we already do have in our care! Sounds like you made the right decision for you and your dogs!

Sorry to hear about Rosie, but it sounds like you made the right decision for your circumstances. Now to pray that the right person or people come along to adopt Rosie and give her the home that she needs.
Wishing you a good weekend!

It is what it is and you can't change the facts or circumstances. Hopefully soon she will find that special someone to bond with. You made the right choice for where you are now and what is best for everyone. xo Patty/NS

Rosie's person will find her, and she is in good hands, as is your current fur family. You have to do what's best for all concerned.

As I said in my previous comment - you have enough to take care of already. You take good care of the creatures in your charge and need not feel bad about not taking on another. You made the right decision.
I volunteer at our local shelter and see so many dogs and cats without homes. Surprisingly most seem to find a home eventually. I'm sure Rosie will too.

It seems more and more of these sad cases are happening across the country. In Atlanta just a couple of hours from my home 30 or more dogs were rescued from a neglectful breeder and all the animals are getting the care they need before adopted out to loving homes. If you are like me, we feel the need to do something but sometimes we can't and that hurts. I am sure you made the right decision and another loving family that can devote all their attention to Rosie will come along and give her the forever home she needs. Currently me and my daughter are blessed to volunteer in a no kill facility loving on the dogs and cats until they get their forever home. You have a wonderful heart and I love reading about all the animals you care for.
Blessings
